  1. While I was admiring the underside of my bran new 19 Silverado I noticed the exhaust pipe, immediately after the cat, is squished, like super flat... Has anyone replaced that section with a normal round piece of tubing? Did it make any improvements in sound/mpg? Seems like it must!
  2. I have a 2008 GMC Sierra with the 5.3 liter engine. I hear a rattle coming from the underneath of the truck only at 1000-1500 RPM’s. I checked for loose clips and stuff but I have found nothing. It doenst affect the way the truck runs just the sound. Also, the temperature doesn’t affect the rattle.
  3. I have a 2017 GMC Siearra 1500 with the 5.3L & 8 speed transmission. There is a rattle noise that you can hear at cold start. I have seen posts on this issue and answers seem to be all over the place. When my truck sits overnight or while at work all day, there is a rattle that sounds to me like it is coming from the exhaust. I haven't gotten under the truck to see exactly where the sound is coming from. It typically lasts about 5-10 seconds. If you immediately put the truck in gear after startup the rattle goes away. Any info on exactly what this may be is appreciated. I have seen suggestions of torque converter, heat shield, hole in exhaust, flapper valve, and bad catalytic converter. Can anybody narrow this down to one of these issues?
  4. We have a 2016 Yukon 6.2L which developed a rattle at approximately 60k miles. Initially I believed the source of the rattle was a heat shield, but everything seems to be tight. It has been to the dealer twice and no progress has been made to resolve the issue. The first time they dismissed the problem and called it "normal" and the second time they believe it's a broken baffle weld in the muffler. What do you think? Thanks in advance Video with several angles from under the vehicle demonstrating the issue. The problem only surfaces when the vehicle inters v4 mode. Also, the rattle is so loud it is picked up by the Knock Sensors and it pulling timing. Scan performed with HP Tuners VCM Scanner.
  5. I’m looking at purchasing a ‘22 Elevation. Unfortunately the truck I’m looking at isn’t equipped with the dual exhaust/bumper, which is what I want. It just has the regular pipe out the side. Does anyone know if the dealer can swap out the bumper and add the dual exhaust?
  6. Alright, before you say you don’t hear anything let me explain first. This video posted below is my 2021 Trail Boss 3500k miles and has the most annoying exhaust sound. I know there’s some serious pro’s on here who could tell me what’s going on. Essentially any time I start it up high RPM, accelerate, or decrease RPM’s I’m greeted with this annoying metallic rattling noise coming from exhaust. Took it to dealer who claims it’s normal (per-usual) and says it’s the liters I can hear in the exhaust tone. They checked exhaust donuts and heat shields and found no issue. However you can hear a rattle and what sounds like an exhaust leak. Was told it’s a flapper but it’s not, flapper is toward back passenger side. This is front passenger side. I could best describe it as escaping air coming from somewhere near the manifold I’d assume. Almost like a metallic farting exhaust noise for lack of better description. Videos to follow of noise while commuting.
  7. Hello Everyone! Before I get started I want to thank anyone in advanced who responds with pertinent information. I'm looking for a replacement exhaust system for my 09 Silverado 6.2L 4x4 Crew Cab/Short Bed. My current system has lots of rust (living in MD, they heavily salt & brine the roads here) and has sprung an exhaust leak right behind the muffler on one of the pipes. I've been searching around (thought it would be easy to find a system) but have not had luck in finding what I have been searching for. There are plenty of systems for 5.3L & 6.0L motors but scant any for 6.2L. On my truck currently is an aftermarket cat back system that was there when I bought the truck (not sure which brand.) It is a single in / dual out muffler with dual pipes going out the bumper. Questions: What is the factory flange diameter at the end of the factory Y pipe? I'm seeing conflicting information (this will help me determine what muffler to buy if I piece meal a system together) If you have any suggested systems, here's what I'm looking for Material: 304L Stainless Steel Volume: Loud/Agressive Configuration: Dual exit at rear bumper I'd consider a long tube header setup w/ high flow cats as well (I would like to maintain all emissions equipment) any suggestions there are also welcome. I can always get a quote from a shop but I wanted to shop around first before I did that.
  8. I had a great deal on buying my 2015 Silverado LT. It’s not what I wanted (V8, leather, 4WD, etc,) but I’m going to make it work! It’s a beautiful color and I added some black 20” rims and also painted the bowtie black. I have a few more mods I want to do with the lights and adding a backup camera, BUT what I want most is HP!!! I called the local speed shop and they told me there’s really nothing out there for the 4.3L and I wouldn’t be able to notice the small increase with a Cold Air Intke, Exhausts or programming..... Is this true? I mean a few extra (10-15) for each of those mods seems like it would add up? Can anyone give me some advice to get more HP without dropping the obvious V8 I’d love to have to begin with..... Thanks so much in advance! TomBrady80
  9. When I bought my truck in September, I couldn't believe how quiet the exhaust was on a 420hp motor. But I have to remind myself I'm not the target market because the majority of truck buyers these days want quiet and luxury. My first attempt was the muffler delete. I was looking for an affordable option since I was also looking at a potential real estate investment at the time. Honestly, it turned out really good. It was much louder on startup and in town but surprisingly quiet on the highway since I left both flappers in. The best part is it only cost $75. The downside was a slight drone on steady hills and a much louder DFM noise. I could have lived with that except I could tell the truck had a lot more in it. That brings me to my new Corsa exhaust. I've been hoarding these stimulus payments so I figured, why not. For anyone looking - CSP racing has the system around $200 less than anyone else and free shipping. Man... this exhaust really woke the truck up. I know people say this a lot but it really does feel like a different truck. The sound is excellent. My Corvette has the Corsa system as well and it sounds very similar to it on startup and high RPM. Throttle response is way better and it even climbs hills on my regular route a gear higher than it did before. You can just tell how much better the truck breathes with a catback system and those flappers gone. I didn't realize how restrictive they are. And in typical Corsa fashion, it's absolutely silent on the highway. The installation wasn't bad and only took a couple of hours with no lift. Getting the old system off was much harder than getting the new one on. I didn't want the cut the factory exhaust so I can go back to factory when I sell or trade the truck and even without my muffler in the way, it was a bear to get loose and drag out. The only downside is I wish it were louder at lower RPM but overall I'm really happy with it. Sorry, no sound clips yet. I'll work on that. Thanks @TNTSilverado for suggesting this system and giving good advice.
  10. Welcome to my build! Started with a 2019 Silverado 1500 LTZ 4wd 5.3L, which I bought with 9k miles on her in August of 2020. Got a crazy good deal on it, justified me driving to Georgia from Houston to pick it up. It even came with the Ranch Hand front bumper on it already, other than that she was stock. Little bit of background on my past trucks, I've been fortunate to own quite a few: 07 JK Wrangler, 08 Silverado 1500 LT Z71, 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Z71, 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT w/ 6.2L, 2016 Denali 2500 Duramax, 2017 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71, and finally my 2019 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71. I also have my 2015 ZL1 Camaro for a little bit of fun on the side, my wife has gone off to German side and is rocking her Porsche Cayenne. So here's the current list of mods: 4" Zone Lift kit w/ Fox rear shocks 35x11.50's Nitto Terra Grapplers on stock 20's Front and back Ranch Hand bumpers Hooker Blackheart Cat-back exhaust utilizing factory dual tips K&N Series 63 cold air intake Rough Country Automatic drop down steps Camlocker Tool box Front windows tinted to match back factory tint Front windshield tint strip Chevy All-Weather floor liners Stubby antenna Just went on a shopping spree of sorts and this is what I've got on order: Boost auto parts auto fog mod Putco Blade LED Tailgate Light Bar w/ Putco wiring harness All LED bulbs; replacing turn signals, license plate lights, and reverse lights. And the GRAND finale, King 2.5 PRS coilovers The list of things to come in the near future: High Country cluster from White Audio and Media, had their Tahoe cluster in my 2017 and it was fantastic! Waiting to order the rear King Resi PRS shocks until my checkbook bounces back a little bit. Lol Going to be putting on several LED light bars and maybe a pod or two, going to do my best to blend them into the Ranch Hands and make them as non conspicuous as possible. I'm strongly considering doing a Dyno tune w/ Kooks long tubes as well. Going to be doing ceramic tint all the way around. Limo on back windows and back glass, 15% on front windows, and 35% on the front windshield. I've got a drop in plastic bed liner that drives me crazy, so I'll more than likely go ahead and get the bed sprayed. Things I'm considering: Looking into changing up the rims and trying to clear 37's when the time comes for new tires. Blacking out the badges? Still not sold on this one... Turbo or a supercharger kit? This one would be way down the line though. Anything else that catches my attention, let me know if you can come up with anything! Here is the truck from stock:
  11. Hello, Everyone Just Wanted to share a video I was meaning to make for some months now, I lost a GoPro Camera on the process, so I had to save for a new one to make this video. If you like the video, a subscription to my YouTube Channel is always appreciated! This is my exhaust set up -Speed Engineering Long Tube Headers (1 7/8" Primaries to 3" Collectors) -Dual 3" X Pipes -Dual 3" Magnaflow Mufflers (PN 14419) - True Dual Exhaust to 3.5" Tips This is how she sounds while towing: Brief Exhaust clips: Thank you all for watching
  12. I can’t narrow my search results for this, anyone know if there’s a difference between the single vs dual exit exhaust on the 2019 LT+ trims? I have the single side exhaust with the stock bumper without dual cutouts, I found a good deal on RC dual exhaust kit and thinking I could mod the tips with down tips. thanks for the assist.
  13. I have a 2014 GMC 1500 with a 5.3L. I recently replaced my CATs because I was getting the dreaded P0430 code. SO I put new Magnaflow exhaust systems as well as brand new sensors in it. I got it all in and about a day after I got it all installed I got the same code P04030. I double checked the seals and sensors and looked at the live data and it all looks on the level...the only other thing I can think is that there is a wiring issue with it...the connector on bank 2 sensor 2 looks in order so I'm a little confused as to why I'm still getting this code other than there is a ground or an electrical issue I haven't looked at.
  14. I was hoping after SEMA we would start getting some sneak peaks into what was coming for the 3.0, but no luck thus far. Anyone else heard anything? Nothing much from what I have tried to research.
  15. Hey all, Comparing exhaust and I am having a hard time figuring out what I want. I have a LT Trail Boss. Reply with what you got, opinions, interior drone if there is any, and a video is possible. Thanks.
  16. Hi all, new to the forum, but have been reading random threads. I own a 2020 Trailboss, and my wife has a 2019 Suburban Premiere 6.2. I did some searching and couldn't really pinpoint any good discussions on this. I'm looking to add exhaust to the Suburban. I was hoping to accomplish 2 things: 1. Marginal increase in volume/sound, she wants people to know she's on the road 2. "Dual" exhaust, however I can't seem to find any good pictures or systems that exist out there. Honestly I don't even want/need the tips visible, it would be great to add a 2nd exit on the driver side, similar to what's currently on the passenger side. Anyone do/see anything like this or know of a system that exists? Thank you!
  17. Hi all, Now that I am a bit older with a family, the days of extreme loud exhaust in sport cars / trucks has come to somewhat of an end. I have a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3l. About a year ago I decided to try out the Magnaflow cat back 3" and had a horrible drone through pretty much the entire RPM range. I tried everything to calm the drone but nothing seemed to work. I tried a couple of Borla exhaust systems and still too loud of a drone. I wanted to share a new cat back exhaust I just had installed that I am more than pleased with. The exhaust is handcrafted by MRT Performance in Plymouth Michigan, near where I live. They use T304 piping and they spent a lot of time developing and perfecting a bad a$$ muffler with a drone rating of 1 out of a 10 scale. Meaning 1 is almost no drone. The exhaust tip comes welded on and nice exhaust clamps are included. A buddy recommended them to me after my numerous failed attempts of finding a low drone, performance exhaust. I wanted to share this because I have read other posts about guys wanting performance exhaust but without the loudness / extreme drone. I have to tell you that I am so impressed and so relieved the drone, that was giving me headaches, is now gone! The low nice sounding rumble is there that at cruising speeds, and going WOT gives me that ear to ear grin! Normally I would not post about products I buy, but I had to share this newest purchase. The nice thing is I can have normal conversations at all RPM levels. The cool thing is MRT posted two nice videos of interior and exterior sounds using their Silverado test vehicle. I purchased the MRT Deep & Mellow cat back. They do ship their systems too. I attached some photos of my truck with the completed system in place. The link to the website is https://www.shopmrt.com/Chevy-Silverado-Performance-Exhaust-s/2273.htm
  18. I would like to know if my 2’7/8 o.d intermediate pipe after my long tubes going into flowmaster si/doFlowmaster exhaust is too small for my 6.0 cammed with 10.5 to 1 comp is restricting my motor. The factory 6.0 exhaust on HD’s is much bigger. Any thoughts?
  19. I've been researching exhaust options until I'm blue in the face and I don't think I'm any closer to a decision. I had the GMPP system on my K2 but I can't believe the markup on the T1 system if you go through the GM Accessary website or dealer. I've seen a code flying around for 20% off and I have around $200 worth of GM points after recently purchasing my T1. That would bring it down to around $1200 which is a far cry from around $1750 where it MSRPs. I know, I know, you get what you pay for. But when muffler-only options are so much cheaper, I'm torn. In my research through the Forum I see I missed an exhaust sale back in August. Any other GM deals y'all see floating around?
  20. Hey guys n gals...new to the site. This is my second GM truck but doing a VASTLY different build on her. My first truck is an 05 Colorado Xtreme drift truck, while this one is a 2018 Sierra 1500 Z71 Prerunner build that's my daily (it's the 5.3, not the 6.2) My question is...which exhaust is better for pure, clean loud while maintaining a low, angry tone when I get on it? I know Magnaflow is a straight through so no "restriction" while Flowmaster is baffled for tuned tone. I loathe exhaust "pop n bang" like glasspacks and whatnot...so im trying to avoid sounding like every cheap, clapped out beater truck in my area. I am specifically looking for as low and angry as I can get, but clean and clear. I notice a LOT of trucks here go for the "NASCAR" sounding kits and that's a bit too high pitch for me. I can cut and dump, so I can play with how "loud" it is, but which is best for deep, low, growly sound at all times?
  21. Looking for a new exhaust for my 6.2 AT4. Leaning toward the Borla Atak system. Appears to deliver some sound and performance gains. Talked with Borla Engineers and they say absolutely NO drone on the Atak system ay any RPM and no problem with cylinder deactivation. I just don't want it to be too loud at cruising speed but have not heard of any complaints. Ready to pull the trigger on this but looking for any first hand experience with the Atak system. Thanks
  22. Looking for Back Grill, AT4 Badging and black dual exhaust tips. I have been jonesing for them since I picked up my white AT4 3 weeks ago and then recently saw pics of all of them on a grey AT4 from a dealer site in Florida. It l poked really good and confirmed my need. I am thinking the grille may be from an Elevation model. I saw some black AT4 badging on EBAY but unsure about quality. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  23. I'm looking at the Flowmaster Outlaw Dual Exhaust System. I do like aggressive exhaust but my main consern about the outlaw is it too loud to have a conversation in the truck with windows up? If it's too loud how would the Flowmaster FlowFX Dual Exhaust System with Black Tips; Middle Side Exit suffice?
  24. Well, paid $80 to get the muffler and flapper cut off on my 19 with the 5.3l.. The drone is pretty bad and it sounds a bit too airy. At idle it sounds great, same with hard acceleration. On my 14 with the 6.2L, this mod sounded great. Should I have kept the flapper? I thought I read plenty of people who said save money do a muffler delete. What can I do to help this out?
  25. I have a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 with 2.75" exhaust pipe. I am wanting to delete my muffler and add a glasspack without welding. Problem is, I can't find any adapters to fit anything. Do I go with a 3" or a 2.5" glasspack? And whichever one I go with, what size adapters/reducers do I use? The muffler shops in this area charge around $350 for this work, so that's the reason for doing it myself. I appreciate any help given!!
