  1. My trucks going in for open heart surgery in a month. DOD delete, tsp stage 2 L83/5.3 cam in my L86/6.2. I eventually would love to put a blower on it. I drive the truck frequently and don’t want to do too big of a cam where I’ll have to change my torque converter. Will I get away with a L83 stage 3 cam with my stock converter or should I stick to the stage 2. Specs are 5.3L Stage 2 Camshaft w/ +32% Fuel Lobe: 218/226, 635", 113 LSA, 109 ICL All my mods will be intake, portable TB, (hopefully have my heads ported when it goes in for dod delete and cam) LT4 injectors, 1-7/8 long tube hears, off-road y-pipe. I’ll have a 3.5” electric cut out followed by stock exhaust for now. Trucks reverse level and blocks removed. 22x12 -51 285/35r22 no trimming or cutting
  2. I've been wanting to install longtube headers on my 2007 sierra classic for awhile and now that I've noticed that the OEM exhaust manifold is cracked and one stud is broken I think it's the time to do so. Just wondering what info i should know before doing so. Do I need to have it tuned? I currently have a cold air intake, throttle body spacer and cat back exhaust but that's pretty much it.
  3. I had a great deal on buying my 2015 Silverado LT. It’s not what I wanted (V8, leather, 4WD, etc,) but I’m going to make it work! It’s a beautiful color and I added some black 20” rims and also painted the bowtie black. I have a few more mods I want to do with the lights and adding a backup camera, BUT what I want most is HP!!! I called the local speed shop and they told me there’s really nothing out there for the 4.3L and I wouldn’t be able to notice the small increase with a Cold Air Intke, Exhausts or programming..... Is this true? I mean a few extra (10-15) for each of those mods seems like it would add up? Can anyone give me some advice to get more HP without dropping the obvious V8 I’d love to have to begin with..... Thanks so much in advance! TomBrady80
  4. Just bought a 2002 Reg Cab Silverado with 4.3. I have a 400 sbc ready to go and do not intend to put an ls motor into the truck. I am wondering if anyone has done this install before and if so what headers did you end up going with. I want to run long tubes.
  5. We are selling this personally part #28602201 used Kooks long tube headers 1 3/4" x 3" PLUS catted y pipe only $750!
  6. Might have a ridiculous question but I cant see the issue in theory so I am consulting the experts. I have a 2015 2500 HD 6.0 4x4. I recently had long tubes installed. First finding long tubes for this application is insane. I could not specifically find anything that guaranteed fitment for this year. I ended up with speed engineering stainless that was made for the 6.0 up to 2013 according to them it should carry over in later years which is true given the L96 has changed little to none. I had zero fitment issue with the passenger side but the left was awful...... hit the motor mount, frame, and drive shaft. I had the shop modify the header to fit......being honest he did exactly that and I'm impressed but I believe the header is leaking like nobody's buisness due to the 8 different cuts and bends he made. and makes an awful sound I do not feel like going through hell and back or spend the money on another long tube header for that side to run into the same issue...... so what if I ran a shorty 1 7/8 stainless on the driver side and a 1 7/8 long tube on the passenger side? It's off the wall but why not? If the true duals x and I have a custom tune in theory it should not be an issue right?
  7. Well my Texas Speed and Performance long tube headers came in the mail today and I’m getting ready to install them on my 2015 Sierra 1500. It’s my first time installing headers. Does anyone have any tips or things I should know about installing them on these trucks? Thanks.
  8. A few months ago I installed a set of Texas Speed and Performance long tube headers and the catted y pipe they offer. Some then ive noticed the front of the transmission pan leaks a little bit. The bolt heads have trans fluid on them all the time and every now and then it drips onto the exhaust and I can smell it. I believe this is due to the heat from the catalytic converter that is positioned directly below the trans pan. I haven’t noticed any higher trans temperature and the fluid level of the trans hasn’t gotten low so it not a bad leak, just an annoying smell mostly. I’m trying to decide what to do and I thought I’d get y’alls opinion. I was thinking about making a heat shield to go between the cat and the trans pan. or maybe just tightening the bolts on the trans pan, if I remember correctly the torque spec on those is pretty low and the added heat from the cat might be enough to make it leak. Thanks for any input.
  9. I bought this truck in August of 2014 from a dealer in Milwaukee. It had 8k miles and the previous owner had custom ordered it used it for 6 months then turned around and traded it in for same thing but 2500 with a Duramax. This is its journey.... The truck also did really impressive burnouts for being completely stock, this one was into 3rd gear A few months after I bought it I started with upgrades. First was a rolling tonneau cover. Didn’t love it but it worked. I wanted more power from it and chose a set of Doug Thorley tri-y headers and catless y pipe. Had a little issue with y pipe not being the right size for 6.2s catback, welded factory flange onto the y pipe and it works great! Plus they look sweet! At the same time as this I also bought a Diablo inTune, it paired alright with the headers but didn’t have the parameters in it to tune out cats so I had to have someone do that for me. The truck did have some pretty amazing fuel economy though. This tank was hand calculated 24.5!! I drove the truck like this for a couple years but did a few minor things, one was an MIT tube and the other a custom tune from DiabLew. Trans tuning was biggest improvement by Lew.

  14. Decided to make a new thread about headers. So I am looking for ways to add some umph to my truck. I have seen that long tube headers can add low end torque and HP. Anyone run with these types of headers? What kind of power gains have you seen? Hooked to stock exhaust or full custom?
  15. Which Headers do you recommend for a truck equipped with the 6.2 liter L86 engine? 1.Which ones do you have? 2. Why do you endorse them? -Cost -Quality -Ease of installation -Size (1 3/4 Vs. 1 7/8) -Performance -Sound (tone quality, volume, drone) -Longevity -Value (cost, complications and effort Vs. added performance and enjoyment -Downsides 3. Associated exhaust parts 4. Any other special considerations i have a 2015 High Country 4WD 1500 CCSB with the 6.2. I have decided to possibly “tune it up”. If it is financially feasible and will add to the daily driving enjoyment of this truck. It is not a “pig” by any means, but it lags a bit, especially with the larger/heavier tires and their effect on gearing. I think it would be greatly improved by being “woken up” through a few steps. I am considering: Banks CAI Ported/Polished stock throttle body BlackBear Tuning 194* GM Thermostat and slightly more aggressive fan profile in tuning. LongTube Headers with Cats Dual Exhaust Mufflers and Resonators - I have had good luck with and like AERO Turbine mufflers out of Utah. I was considering two of his AT3030 mufflers and two of the AR30 resonators, somewhere over the axles, with L/R tips behind the rear wheels. In looking at my plans, I think that the exhaust without mods would be a bottleneck. I currently have removed the factory muffler and flapper and put back an Aero turbine 3030XL or maybe 3535XL muffler. (I don’t remember) What at do you think of my plan? What is good or bad? Help me decide what to do. Headers and a full exhaust change can become quite expensive, if the gains aren’t that significant, maybe this part of “the plan” can be changed. If you feel that headers are not needed, please share. Please try to be clear, concise and factual in regards to your Header choices. Let’s not get too derailed discussing just mufflers. Hopefully this thread can help many others with this particular decision. I searched the exhaust thread, but it is daunting to find this particular information. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience. The members here make this forum the best of its kind for our trucks. -Darksky

  17. I purchased these headers about a year ago and before I could get them installed started having issues with my 2016 Sierra and didnt want to give GM any reason to deny my powertrain claim. I have since had those issues resolved but decided to go a different route with my truck and thus these are for sale. Asking $750 obo plus the ride. Motivated seller as I would like to finish my G8. Thanks. These will fit both the 5.3 and 6.2 of the below listed vehicles. Note if you have the 6.2 you will have to expand the ball at the end of the connection pipe to fit. Thanks again. 2014-17 Silverado/Sierra2015-17 Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade
