I recently bought a (Gen 3) LQ4. I'm trying to swap this into an (Gen 4) 07' Silverado which uses 58x Reluctor, 4x Cam Gear, Front Timing Cover/Crank Sensor, and 2 Knock Sensors located in the sides of the block. I have a (Gen 4) Truck, So the timing cover/ crank sensor/ knock sensors can be used. I also have a (Gen 4) ECM/Harness. I know I need to get 58x Reluctor Gear put on & get a 4x cam gear already My questions are as follows: 1. Can I put a 4x Cam Gear on a (Gen 3 Cam) ? or do I need to get a (Gen 4 Cam) for the (Gen 4 Cam Gear) to work ? 2. Can I use the (Gen 4 Knock sensors) on the side of the (Gen 3 LQ4) ? Just drill/tap & mount them ? 3. If I keep the (Gen 4 Fuel Setup) could I just install that on the (Gen 3 LQ4) ? Any help or advice will be appreciated. I'll be documenting everything so others will have better knowledge when putting a Gen 3 Block into a Gen 4 Vehicle. Thanks guys !

Hey guys, I just bought an LQ4/6.0 out of a 2006 Denali XL Complete Long Block Engine Harness /w ECU Accessories The swap will be going into a 2007 Reg Cab Silverado. Truck came factory with the 4.8L Vortec. My questions go as follows. 1. Would the swap work easier since I have the ECU/ECM that came with it ? 2. 06' Below uses 24x Crank Sens... 07+ 58x Crank Sens... Could it work since i have the ECU/Harness ? 3. Would the truck still start up/drive without unlocking the ECU ? 4. What other things should i be worried about ? 5. What things should I get for the swap if needed ? I will be using a JEGS adapter/4.8 Flexplate to mount the 4l60e to it "4l80 will be put in later"

I am trying to figure out how to get the trans. to work and know what gear I'm in. Do they make harnesses for this or control modules for this. Thanks for any help.

What’s parts will be needed that ive might have missed for the swap or has anybody done this type of swap? I will be getting a LS 427 1500 to 2000 hp deciding witch package to go with and it comes with full engine and transmission everything from wires efi kit, wires. The Whole works from motor to transmission I will just be adding headers, exhaust line , upgraded drive shaft, rear diff. The thing I’m stuck on is this so called swap in and out plug and play since am going from LT to LS 427 anybody have experience on what I might need for it to fitment issues ? New transmission crossmembers ? Motor mounts I just want to make sure there’s is nothing missing or I might be over looking prior purchasing. I understand if it was old to new but am here going from LT to LS on the truck project truck I must say. Anything helps those who have experience. Thank you

Hello, I will be doing an engine swap in my s-10 fairly soon. The specific truck I have is a 1992 s-10 ext. cab 2.5l 4-banger, with RWD and a 5 speed manual. What I am thinking for engine/ tranny is a Chevy 350 with a NV3500 transmission. It would be easier for me to find a 350 that already has a NV4500 married to it, but I have heard that it is difficult to fit a NV4500 in an s-10. I can't find any info for my exact model, so I'm asking if the combo of the 350/nv3500 will be a good fit. I won't be racing this truck, I just want more get-up and towing capacity. if you know of a better setup I am very open. also originally I was thinking of putting a 5.3 Vortec instead of the 5.7/350 but everyones been saying the 350 is easier.

Not sure if this is the place for this or not. But I will be documenting the ls swap journey of my dream truck. I found me a fairly clean rust free 1992 gmc 1500 2wd. Sourced a junkyard 5.3, and a 4l80e trans. I am using a bp automotive harness, hp tuners and a lot of luck. This is my first ls swap so critics please tell me what I am doing wrong.

I'm looking to see if anyone knows of anyone who has swapped a LS engine into a GM 2014-2018 1500 series truck. Most likely with the 6L80. Can anyone point me in the right direction? just joined the forum so i guess im the new guy with an old truck... tis the season to be wasting money... 72 c10 l33/4l60e plan is to ditch the 18's and go with some 17" torque thrusts with tall tires out back and then maybe re-address the ride height. currently 5" in the rear and 4.5" up front. it had slightly sloppy steering so I changed out the steering intermediate shaft for a nice u-joint version. the doofus before me "changed the rear brakes" but never adjusted the shoes properly so the wheel cylinders started to seep and ruined the shoes on one side so im going to replace both wheel cylinders and shoes. so once I cracked open the rear end I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the open diff was completely smoked. I don't even know how it held together on my trip home. kinda scary. sucks that I had to shell out cash I wasn't expecting to but at least its only the diff and not the entire housing etc etc. I decided to go with an Eaton limited slip that is currently in route. im going to do the diff swap, diff seals, axle seals, wheel cylinders and brake shoes all at once. hope to have it buttoned up by the weekend. I also decided to pep up the gear ratio from 3.08 to 3.42. it will hurt fuel mileage slightly but once I ditch the 18" wheels (current tire diameter is 28.5") and go to a 17" setup (which will have a tire diameter of 30") it shouldn't be too bad. so while im waiting for the rear end parts to arrive im going to continue to pick away at the list of little stuff I want to do. *continuing with the long winded post* I took off the old 13" billet steering wheel it came with and bought another 15" comfort grip steering wheel I noticed that the previous owner for some reason ditched the column spring and signal cancel cam/horn conductor. so I sourced both of these little jerks in addition to that he wired the horn to a separate switch under the dash...!??!?!?! so ill wire it back up the column. I also ordered a few firewall boots that were missing and letting TONS of cold air into the cab one for the brake rod and one for the steering column there is also a hole in the dash where the cigarette lighter went and it bothered me so I ordered one of those too... ill *hopefully* get around to changing out the passenger window regulator that gets really difficult halfway down. I already bought the part just need to find the time. I keep putting it off since its not that important... these CPP sway bars came in from summit over the weekend so ill try and get those on too. Ill prob be "sick" on Friday and just take the day to button it up. I may even cruise over to the truck shop and pick up some new cab cushions (the current ones look like they needed replacing in 1993) along with a repop correct style 10" rear view mirror and wiper washer motor. once I get all this stuff sorted out ill start to plan out the next phase... the big question...n/a or boost
