  1. 2017 GMC 2500 Denali diesel. While driving, the upper portion of the outside passenger mirror moves from the set position and points to the sky. It has been. to the dealer several times, but they have not found an error code. I picked the vehicle up Friday after they found no error code. The mirror was pointed up. If I did not commit to helping someone on Saturday, I would have left with the dealer. Sunday, my wife used vehicle and mirror returned to normal position. The dealer wants to disconnect the mirror. I paid extra for electrical component insurance. My wife and I are over a foot apart in height. Disconnecting the unit is not an option. Has anyone had a similar occurrence or know of a solution?
  2. I have a 2011 GMC with the towing mirrors that are power mirrors, I checked the plug in at the door, there was 12V going to the plug. So I thought it may be the switch, and it’s not the switch. While I had the door panel off where the switches go I noticed a little black plug in with a red end disconnected. Not sure what it goes to. I don’t have a mirror wiring diagram or a wiring diagram at that but thought it was strange to see a plug in that had a little Christmas tree plug just hanging around. I’ve checked the fuses(before replacing the switch), and all of them were good. Is there something I’m missing here? If someone has had this issue before or has a wiring diagram to the mirrors it would help me tremendously. I can’t move my mirrors due to being afraid I’m going to shatter the glass. That’s one main thing that’s bugging me besides trying to chase that ominous “SERVICE AIRBAG” light. I figured I’d have the techs when they replace the passenger side air bag clear it in their system and see if it stays off once they replace the airbag. I’ll be honest, before I owned this truck, someone did a piss poor job of wiring in a security system(even though it came with one), and a remote start(even though it came with that from the factory as well). So I’ve had to fix those issues, and the only issue I’m having that’s bugging me now is the mirrors. Like I said if someone has had a similar issue please feel free to share or if someone has a wiring diagram to where the mirrors go to so I can see why I’m not getting any movement out of my power mirrors. Thanks a bunch.
  3. I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ Crew Cab and I have been having several issues that might be linked. A few months ago my right outside mirror decided to start readjusting itself when I opened the driver door. A few weeks ago it stopped doing that and the left side started to readjust itself. I used the memory buttons on the door to set the mirrors where I wanted and just hit that every time I start the truck. Also, I have the mirror tilt in reverse controls turned off. Strangely, I am now also having problems with the seats not working with the memory button and two of the seat heaters have stopped working. I can't find anything on the web that indicates what module controls the memory for the exterior mirrors. So, does the truck have a poltergeist or does the power seat control module also direct the mirrors as well as the seat memory and maybe a few other functions? Thanks for all your help!
  4. So it started two weeks ago when I was locked out of my running 2014 Silverado. I was loading the trash for a dump run, started the truck to warm it up, got out closed the door and heard the tell tail click of the doors locking. Luckily it happened inthe driveway so had the spare keys in the house. Thought I was losing my marbles, thought truck was haunted ?. When I opened the truck up I noticed when I closed the drivers door the truck would lock itself. Found the drivers window worked ok but I couldn’t control the other three windows and the mirrors from the drivers controls. All windows worked from their individual switches. Thats with the door closed. Open the door and everything worked fine. Of course searched the web for similar problems but not much available for Silverados like I was seeing. I did see a lot of stories for other vehicles with similar symptoms. Long of the short, I pulled the drivers door panel, drivers speaker and then disconnected the drivers wire harness connector. Pulled the connector, boot and associated connectors and fed them through the speaker hole. It was a bear but pushed the boot up high enough and pulled the tape off to expose the wires (theres a plastic strain relief, cut the tiewrap and tape and slide it up and out of the way). Upon close examination found three wires cracked down to bare copper and low and behold, the pink 22 gage wire BROKEN. Spliced the broken wire, taped the others and put the whole mess back together. Total repair time about four hours. Before you start replacing expensive parts check those wires!!!
