  1. What do you guys think? It's not as loud as a full aftermarket exhaust would be but I think it sounds pretty good for the money I paid.
  2. Needing to install a 3" glasspack on 2.75" exhaust. Can someone please give me some help with suggestions on a good way to get them clamped on? I don't want to make it permanent. 3" ID/OD don't fit, so I'm at a loss. And I'm told not to put the muffler over the pipe. Do I need to go smaller?
  3. I’ve been having some issues with the exhaust system I built for my 2015 Sierra 1500 5.3. There is way too much drone. I have TSP long tube headers with a catted y pipe going to a manual exhaust cutout, then some pipe, a flow master 50 series, more pipe, then turns out the side before the axle and sticks out maybe an inch past the quarter panel (all 3in pipe). The muffler could be moved foreword or back. Also I don’t have an exhaust tip. With the cutout closed it is not very loud at idle or on the throttle but when cruising it has a terrible drone. It’s very annoying. Because of this I’ve been leaving the cutout open all the time. With it open, it’s very loud and I have to watch it around cops but cruising on highway it isn’t annoying and it doesn’t have any drone cruising. I’d like to modify the system in two ways. I want to get rid of the drone and I want to switch to a louder muffler, probably a glass pack. The 50 series it way too mild for me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Hey everyone, I need some advice! I've spent countless hours using the search function, sending PM's to members (and you guys don't need to respond again if you don't want to), and listening to YouTube videos (which suck because you can't hear what they sound like from inside the cab going down the road)...but I still can't make up my mind! I want to do a muffler swap on my truck (details in signature). I don't want to spend the money on a full cat-back system...I'm just going to swap the muffler and cut the factory tail pipe so it dumps over the rear axle. I want the sound to be deep and aggressive under acceleration....but close to stock (no drone) while cruising....and without any goofy stuff going on when it switches to V4 mode. My budget is around $200. I've narrowed my choices down to 5 different mufflers....and will explain my concerns & reasons for hesitation with each one. In no particular order: Magnaflow 22" 12589 - I'm concerned about it being too quiet (unless I'm at WOT) for people to even notice, and also worried about drone while cruising (I've heard too many people that complained about magnaflows having drone) Borla Sport 19131347 - I'm concerned about it being too loud in the cab while cruising and switching V8/V4 (or just too loud in the cab in general) Borla Touring 19131346 - Basically just concerned that it's going to be too tame, and I won't hardly be able to tell any difference from stock. Not worried about the drone with this one though. Dynomax VT 17949 - I'm worried about the spring/valve assembly breaking or rattling...and having to get it fixed or replaced after a short period of time. I like the concept, but the moving parts make me nervous. Dynomax Ultra Flo 20" 17233 - Can't find a single sound clip of this muffler on a 5.3; worried about drone and V8/V4 noise I would appreciate any advice (or sound clips) you all can provide. I'm a nervous wreck over this situation, and I can only afford to do this once! Also, please skip the comments about Corsa (I know they're awesome, but I refuse to spend that much money on a muffler) and straight pipes (been there, done that...over it). Thanks in advance everyone!
  5. Hello, I am looking for recommendations or advice regarding the Flowmaser 40 series single out muffler. I am wanting to remove the adaptive valve on my 2015 V8. If I cut off the valve, replace the muffler, and leave the resonator, will I still get the Flowmaster sound? I wouldn't mind a deeper sound, but I don't want it to be too loud either. Just trying to find that happy-medium. The main reason is because I am getting the "chirp" or "squeak" from the adaptive valve. My AFM Disabler helped with the chirp when switching from V4 to V8, but I still hear it when I crank my truck. Any info or advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Ben
  6. I have a Borla Atak Muffler that I just put on my truck a month ago. It has one month of usage. Sounded great and loved it as a Cat-back system. I Decided to do long-tube headers with cat-delete and that muffler is just too loud with that setup. So I have replaced the muffler and am now selling just the muffler. I would like $200 for it, plus $20 shipping to anywhere in the USA.
  7. Installed a 3" Motofab level on my truck last weekend. Rear is stock. Added 20x12s with 33x12.5 tires. Minor plastic and metal trimming, no rub at all. Smoked my tails and 3rd brake light. Will smoke my front turn signals and corner markers this weekend. Will also vinyl wrap the chrome mustache on the bumper, unless someone wants to trade for all black. Going to do a muffler delete (leaving resonators) and clamp the flapper valve open, will also add a Range AFM delete. Has 30% tint now, will eventually do 15% this summer. Will post more pics as I make progress.
  8. Ok, need some opinions, advice, ideally some experience. I've been through many many mufflers ranging from "Wake the kids across the house when you start your truck in the morning" to "is that a stock muffler I just spent $150 on?". I now have my first new truck ever, a 2018 GMC sierra 1500 crew cab all terrain with the 6.2. I love the truck and I'm looking to do a custom exhaust only because of the look and not the sound (maybe 75/20 because this truck has no tone at all). You get the idea...I want it quiet. The exhaust I want to build is a side exit, dual tip, before the right rear tire. I don't like the look of the Gibson setup and I'm concerned it would be way too loud anyways. I have a couple questions and would love thoughts and opinions. 1. How far forward can I go with a muffler without issues? If I do the corsa twin tip I'm going to need a lot of space due to the design of that particular tip (which I like a lot). Does moving the muffler towards the front effect sound at all? 2. If I want zero interior drone, what do you think about a big 22" magnaflow and right next to it weld in the factory rear resonator? That thing is straight through and if I had the room under there to do the pipework needed for the side exit, I would think that the combo could provide a little more V8 tone but tame it down considerably. I assume most of you will hate this idea but could it accomplish what I'm after? Thanks,
  9. I have a used Borla cat-back, Touring# 140570, local pickup only for $600 system has about 15k miles, great exhaust, not too loud, no drone. A bit dirty, removed because I am trading in the truck. also have Volant Cold air intake if interested for $200
  10. Hi, I'm new to this form so hopefully I'm doing this correctly. I have a 2017 Silverado with a 5.3 L V8 that also has eassist. I was looking in to different types of Mufflers I could get and I really like the Super 40 with dual output, but when I went to a Midas, they said that since my truck has a hybrid option installed that an aftermarket exhaust would sound horrible and not a big difference in sound volume. I was told that the Super 40 from Flowmaster would not be too loud but also not too soft. Has anyone tried a different muffler on a S Eassist Silverado before? And does a Super 40 sound too loud or just right? Something that would turn heads when your next to someone but not turn heads blocks away. Thanks!
  11. Hey guys I am planning to change the transmission fluid on my 2007 Silverado (New Body) 4.8 4x4 here soon. My muffler recently wore a hole into it and rusted out a piece of the exhaust. Therefore, I am planning on replacing my entire system with this one from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00503PU70/?coliid=I365UW575WJD1C&colid=1GQFQXGWZEWEY&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it Anyway I have done some research and it looks like the exhaust system prevents the transmission pan from being dropped completely. For this reason, I would like to change my transmission fluid and filter while I am changing out the exhaust. It seems like it is going to save me a world of trouble. Also I am coming up on 95,000 miles and almost positive it has never been changed before. However, there are a lot of opinions on both the right way of doing this and the wrong way. I see a lot of people on YouTube removing the metal line from the front of the transmission radiator and letting the old fluid drain out that way while adding in new fluid. Then they stop when they see new fluid being pulled into the container and replace the filter then go on with life. I have heard other people say that this is gambling with your transmission and should not be done. Basically any advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated. I also heard to not get sucked into "fancy labels" when it comes to new fluid either. My local guy said you want to replace the fluid with exactly the same thing that is in there right now as it was not designed for anything else. I just looked in the manual and it says that it is DEXRON VI so probably going to go with this from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-10-9395-Dexron-Automatic-Transmission/dp/B01EKMGG92/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1526257467&sr=8-2&keywords=dexron+vi+automatic+transmission+fluid Let me know if you guys need anymore information. Any advice and direction you guys can give would be awesome.
  12. Hey Y'all. I'm in need of some advice. I just recently bought a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.3L V8 and its too quiet. I wanna give it that nice low rumble at idle but have it loud when you punch it. I don't wanna spend a whole lot of money so i'm hoping to stay away from a cat back system and lean more towards an exhaust. Was also planning on keeping the V4 mode as well so if it has drone issues let me know. I've heard of lots of people doing a Flow Master 40 with a resonator delete? Seems to be the most popular. Thanks in advance for the help!
