  1. My 2019 sierra limited has been making a noise in the front end for a little while now, I installed a readylift 4 inch lift in it back in November and after I had it on a dirty road I noticed that it almost has a knocking sound on the drivers side that I can feel right under my left foot on the firewall/floor, I had it put up on the hoist and was told it was probably the exhaust hitting, but I can't really see anywhere it would hit while driving down the road. Although now after reading some forums I'm thinking it might be a heat shield or somewhat loose somewhere between the fender and the engine, if anybody else has had this similar problem and knows a possible fix let me know, any and all help is appreciated!!!!!
  2. Hello everyone. I've recently purchased a 2020 Silverado 1500 from a dealership. I found out late in the sale that the truck was used as the dealerships "loaner" which didn't really bother me even though I know people beat up those vehicles. Anyway, I'm pretty in-tune to vehicle sounds and I had a couple of questions regarding noises I'm hearing from my vehicle. The first is a clunking noise and a physical jolt when I shift from Drive to Reverse. I have my foot on the brake and am on a flat surface. I notice it a lot after I've been driving for a while and go to back into my garage. I took the truck back to the dealership and they chalked it up to bad U-joints. They slapped 2 fresh sets on, but I've still go the issue. Any ideas what it may be? I don't feel like anything is going to fail, but I also don't like the sound and don't think it should be that way. I have another service appointment next week and I'd like to help them out with ideas considering they don't really seem to care. The second is a ticking noise coming from the undercarriage. I' got under the truck today and believe it's coming from the rear portion of the engine, but I'm not for certain as I've never been beneath the truck while it's been on a rack. The noise cannot be heard when standing at the front with the hood up, but I can hear it very noticeably when standing at the driver's door. I do not hear it as the engine is heating up, but that could be because every other component under the hood is loud as h*ll while the truck is heating up. Once the engine is approaching operating temp, it's very noticeable. As you can hear from the short video, it's every .5 to 1 second or so and is always present during idling. Again, may not be a big issue, but I hate hearing things on my vehicles that I can't attribute to something else. Thanks for reading my ramblings. I can try to post longer videos if anyone needs. Thanks in advance! IMG_8898_Trim_Trim (2).mp4 IMG_8910_Trim (2).mp4
  3. Alright, before you say you don’t hear anything let me explain first. This video posted below is my 2021 Trail Boss 3500k miles and has the most annoying exhaust sound. I know there’s some serious pro’s on here who could tell me what’s going on. Essentially any time I start it up high RPM, accelerate, or decrease RPM’s I’m greeted with this annoying metallic rattling noise coming from exhaust. Took it to dealer who claims it’s normal (per-usual) and says it’s the liters I can hear in the exhaust tone. They checked exhaust donuts and heat shields and found no issue. However you can hear a rattle and what sounds like an exhaust leak. Was told it’s a flapper but it’s not, flapper is toward back passenger side. This is front passenger side. I could best describe it as escaping air coming from somewhere near the manifold I’d assume. Almost like a metallic farting exhaust noise for lack of better description. Videos to follow of noise while commuting.
  4. Hi! Recently my Silverado 1500 4.8 2008 has developed a squeaky noise from underneath the engine. Does anyone know what this can be? IMG_1157.MOV
  5. I have an issue and have searched the troubleshooting section but haven't found a thread that really matched my issue. I recently purchased a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4 (Regular Cab w/ 8' bed) with 55k miles. When I test drove it all the area roads were either rough or under construction so it was hard to determine much via the test drive. The truck looks in great shape and had good service records including a clean Car Fax. Once I had driven on familiar roads I noticed a noise that I'm now trying to diagnose and fix. I'm not sure how to describe it but I only hear it when driving (at all speeds). I hear whether or not I'm towing. The noise doesn't get louder with speed and I don't hear it at idle. The dealer had installed new tires (General Grabber) on the existing base 18" wheels. The ride was rougher than I thought it should be and I knew the torsion bars had been cranked. I think it is back to or close to the original ride height and it improved the ride but I still hear the noise. I know that it's not wind related because other people can hear it but it's not so loud that everyone turns and looks at the truck as it passes. I've looked at everything I can think of but don't find an external source. Any thoughts or ideas would greatly be appreciated.
  6. I have a 2014 Silverado. For some time now it's been making this noise from under the truck. Friends have guessed at it and so have mechanics and we cant seem to figure it out. The guesses I've heard were lifters, rod knock, transmission teeth, drive shaft, and engine misfiring.. moat of which are not the case as the truck still runs well and shifts properly. This noise is also accompanied by a check engine light (Not Flashing) so no misfire... I'm just confused as hell and just want to fix this thing.... also this only occurs while driving at a steady speed only between 1000 and 1500k RPM any faster or slower and the noise goes away. Here's a reference video so you can hear what I'm talking about.
