A lot of new information just dropped. Chevrolet just updated it's ordering information for the 2019 Silverado and we now know what colors it will be offered in, among other things. Didn't see the dates your dealer can start ordering? We've got em! Here's the official names of the eleven colors you'll be able to paint your 2019 Silverado: Red Hot Havana Brown Metallic Iridescent Pearl Tricoat Satin Steel Metallic Northsky Blue Metallic Silver Ice Metallic Summit White Black Oakwood Metallic Shadow Gray Metallic Cajun Red Tintcoat Two colors, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat and Cajun Red Tintcoat will be extra cost options. Oakwood Metallic will also be extra cost and also won't be available at the start of production . As far as which colors are which.... we're still piecing that together. GM's official photography has only a few options and there's no official guide to which color is which. Here's what we can piece together so far... This morning Chevrolet took the wraps off the all new 2020 Silverado HD. Unlike past generations, the HD model seems to share very little with it's younger light-duty sibling. Sharing only a roof with the Silverado 1500, the Silverado HD has a more aggressive front end, semi-style grill, and a mean imposing stature. The most noticeable detail is the large open grille with Chevy's new "CHEVROLET" embossed insert. There isn't a bowtie to be seen, which is kind of odd. We can also deduce that the LTZ and High Country trim levels will have a more advanced headlight cluster with LED bulbs and some sort of DRL. Recent spy shots showed as much. This LT example has the more basic halogen bulb headlight set. We don't know what the interior will look like, or pretty much anything else. Chevy is waiting until the full show in February for those details. If so, it’s a piece of painted foam, with production-ready details that completely fool anyone until they try to open a door. Shaved from billets of structural foam by CNC machines, this was the final approval-concept for the Heavy Duty Silverado before dies were struck. What the photo doesn’t disclose is the sheer size of this Heavy Duty truck. It’s imposing, solid as a billet of steel, and it absolutely commands attention. What is impossible to put into words is the harmony that designers achieved. Proportions are balanced so well that you are unaware of the size—until you’re next to it. I stood with the design team with a three-quarters front view, simply admiring their achievement. Although the front end appears ready to take on an M1A2 Abrams, it is balanced by the sloping hood and how the edges wrap around into the fenders. My only quibble is the vast wheel wells, which allow large wheels and tires as well as plenty of wheel travel. Interestingly, the production reveal will be in Flint, Michigan, where the truck is built. We’ll be there. From the dramatic grille to the windscreen, the hood is shorter than you’d expect given the unannounced (speculation says 6.7-liter) DI gas engine and Duramax diesel with Allison transmission that must fit under the hood. We only saw the crew cab shown. Give it a good look, see how low the top of the bed rail appears, that’s on purpose according to the designers. Having a lower bed rail, and a bumper-step sized to fit steel toed boots was a necessity, and delivered." It will also be the third all-new Silverado model from Chevrolet in just 18 months — each designed for different customers. “We know the needs and priorities of heavy-duty customers are different than those of either light-duty or medium-duty customers,” said Jaclyn McQuaid, chief engineer, Silverado HD. “As such, we built a heavy-duty truck tailor-made for them that has more differentiation than ever before from light-duty models, offers advanced towing technologies to improve towing confidence and includes new features such as the integrated Bedstep, which makes it easier to access the bed while pulling a fifth-wheel trailer.” Built at the Flint Assembly plant in Flint, Mich., the new Silverado HD’s design has a bold, sculpted form that follows its enhanced heavy-duty function, differentiating it from the light-duty Silverado. In fact, the 2020 Silverado HD exterior shares only the roof with its Silverado 1500 stablemate — every other piece of sheet metal is exclusive to Silverado HD. “We set out to make a statement with the 2020 Silverado HD and wanted to visually capture the power and capability of the truck,” said Brian Izard, lead exterior designer for Silverado HD. “The result is a truck that looks like a piece of heavy machinery with modern, chiseled finishes and customer-focused details.” The interior benefits from similar architectural changes made to the all-new Silverado 1500, including an additional 3 inches of legroom on crew cab models and a taller, more comfortable seating position. Under the 2020 Silverado HD’s hood is a choice of two new powertrains: an all-new gasoline engine with direct injection mated to a six-speed transmission, or the Duramax Turbo-Diesel V-8, which delivers 910 lb-ft of torque through an all-new, Allison 10-speed transmission. The 2020 Silverado HD also will offer all-new customer-focused trailering technology, significant increases in towing and payload capabilities and a host of technologies and features designed specifically for heavy-duty truck customers. GM’s focus on understanding truck customers has helped build the most successful truck franchise in the industry over the last four years. A 2019 Trail Boss From The Media First Drive In Wyoming Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 9/4/2018 It hasn't moved one inch. Our 2019 Silverado has sat outside the Fort Wayne Production Factory for a few days shy of one month after being built. Why? We're still not sure. Also, according to Chevy.com's Chat, our order doesn't have an event code. Without an event code we're not sure where our Silverado is in the system or what its status is. As we said early last week, the reasons for our truck still being at the factory a month after completion range from quality defect to shipping issues. No matter the reason, this is starting to all look pretty silly. In reality, ordering a truck may have been the wrong move. Buying the first random truck to hit our dealer's lot may have been the better move. The 2019 Silverado and Sierra launch is arguably one of the most important the company has ever worked on. Are they moving slow and making sure things don't go wrong? Or is GM secretly having issues producing and moving the all new platform? We're not sure. We want to say the former, but the longer our truck sits in Indiana, we're inclined to believe the later.

These are 2014's... but imagine this as a line of 2019 Silverado Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 6/4/18 Only eight more weeks until GM-Trucks.com's all new 2019 Silverado roars to life. That is, as long as our LTZ's scheduled production week holds firm. If you've been following along, you know we've already put in our order for an all new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ. About three weeks ago we visited our local dealership, Banks Chevrolet in Concord, NH and placed our order into the system on the very first day we could. Not long after we received our official order number. Now, we can report our order has gone at least a few steps further in the production process and has been assigned a build week and entered Status 3300 in GM's production system. If all goes to schedule, we've learned that our 2019 Silverado LTZ will be built during the week of July 30th, 2018. This assignment of a production week means that all of the parts Chevrolet will use to assemble our truck have been ordered, allocated, and assigned to our vehicle. All we have to do is wait for it to come together at the factory. So if all goes to schedule, when will we take delivery? That's the million dollar question. We assume some level of delay leaving the factory during the first few months of production. Assuming our truck rolls of the line during production week two, we expect a hold before the truck starts the journey to New Hampshire. We're hoping for a late August delivery but are prepared for September instead. No need to rush- we'd like a quality truck please. So how did we get such "insider" information about our truck build? Surprisingly, the Chevrolet.com Website Chat. Yes, the brand's website customer assistance chat app. Which means- if you have an order in for a 2019 Silverado or Sierra, all you have to do is ask the Chevy or GMC website chat representative for help with your order. All you need is your order number. It was quick easy, and we found out our truck's production week in about 5 minutes. We'll keep you updated as we get more details about our LTZ's build progress.

Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 7/30/18 Right on cue, our 2019 Silverado has been loaded onto the factory computers and will be built at some point in the next few days. If you've been following our adventure of being one of the first to take delivery of a new 2019 Chevy Silverado LTZ then you've seen us go through each step of the process. First we ordered. Then we got our order number. THEN we found out when our order would be produced. Today we have confirmation that our Silverado has reached event code 3400, which means that our options have been loaded onto the plant's computer. Our optioned out sleek blue beauty will soon go from our imagination to real life sheet metal. The next step is Event Code is 3800, which will indicate that not only has our 2019 been built but also has a VIN assigned. Shortly after that is 4000 and 4200 which will mean our Silverado is ready to be shipped and then on its way. Thanks to Chevrolet Chat for giving us the skinny on our order. Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 4/6/2018 Mainline production of the 2019 Silverado and Sierra has begun on a limited scale. Automotive Sales Consultant Mike Davenport just posted four photographs from outside General Motor's Fort Wayne Assembly Plant to his Facebook Page. The pictures are confirmation that 2019 T1 Platform production has indeed begun, if only on a limited scale. The 2019 Silverado High Country and 2019 Sierra AT4, both high level trims, are destined to GM's "Captured Test Fleet", a standard practice for a new model launch. Basically, GM employees will end up driving these trucks and getting the final kinks out of the production process. It's also interesting to note that both are also equipped with the 6.2L V8- an engine we still don't know the power output of. Mike was kind enough to let us use these photos, so do him a favor and check out his facebook page and youtube channel The same High Country was also videotaped and posted to YouTube on March 31st so it's a fair bet we'll be seeing a LOT more of the 2019 T1 pickups very soon.

Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 4/13/18 The Chevrolet Cruze is not selling well. Sales of the model are down 28% this year, leading the industry average drop of 13.2%. As a result, the Lordstown, Ohio factory that produces the Cruze is cutting a shift... and losing jobs. Earlier today plant leaders let factory workers know about the changes and the several hundred jobs that would be lost. The Cruze once sold 273,000 copies a year but has recently slowed along with other US sedan sales. In 2017 Chevrolet only moved 184,000 of the small sedans. Meanwhile, crossovers and suv sales are holding steady or growing. A recent IHS report pegs that 66.9% of crossover and suv owners buy another crossover or suv. Are sedans about to die once and for all? Or will the slump rebound? Only time will tell. What do you think? Source: CNBC

Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 4/12/2018 Thanks to a tip by a forum member, we now know exactly when we can start ordering a new 2019 Silverado or Sierra. Or at least, when dealers can start to submit orders. So when can your local Chevy or GMC dealer get your 2019 order processed? The answer isn't one date... it's a couple. And it depends on if you want a Crew Cab or a Double Cab. If you want a Crew Cab You're in luck. These are being ordered and produced first. Fleet orders start in a few days on April 26th. Retail orders through the Dealer Order Submission Process or DOSP start May 17th. Production is still undetermined with Quarter 3 (July/August/September) being listed for when the first saleable trucks will roll off the line. If you want a Double Cab You're going to have to wait a few more months. Fleet orders start June 21st. The initial DOSP will begin August 16th and production is estimated in Quarter 4 (October/November/December). If you want a Regular Cab You're really out of luck. All regular cab ordering and production is TBD. At this rate, don't expect any regular cab ordering or delivery at least until late late 2018 or early 2019. Stay Up To Date!
