  1. I have a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. Ok internet gurus, need your advice here. When I'm using my camper, I would disconnect my tailgate review camera and hook up the camper, on my last trip, I got careless and accidently left some slack in the camper wire harness and it landed on the muffler. Needless to say, I didn't notice any issues pulling out of my driveway but by the time I got to where I was going the wire insulation had melted through and stuck to the muffler. I'm assuming that it grounded out and then shorted something out. I disconnected it at camp and when I reconnected the tailgate camera the blue screen and service rear video displayed. I had hooked up the camper probably a couple dozen times since I owned the truck and also coincidently I broke off the little clip that hold the tailgate wire on this trip so didn't worry that it wasn't working at camp because it wasn't tight. I ordered a new tailgate camera and hooked it up, still didn't work. I ordered a new wiring harness for the camper and tried that, still didn't work. I read through all the threads on here I could find about this problem and it basically came down to three things. 1) Fuses, 2) The Video Control Module and 3) Some type of Program update from the dealer. I tried checking various fuses but didn't do the Dallas Diag Guy thing of replacing the whole fuse block. Not sure I hit on the right fuse but the taillight, reverse lights and tailgate lock all work. I have had the truck for 95K miles and I take it to the dealer for oil changes so I'm assuming I'm current on software updates but I guess that's a possibility but since this is my first issue with the rearview but I don't think that's it. So, now I'm looking at the Video Control Module as a possibility or should I keep hunting for fuses. Does anyone know if 84624987 is the correct # for my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 if I go that route? Someone posted that # and someone else posted 84691752, so not sure if that matters. Also, does anyone know what fuse I should be checking? The scanner shows code B127B
  2. Hopefully someone can help me, I made a dumb mistake of loosening the clutch lever pivot pin on my Sierra 1500 transfer case. Transfer case is a np246. I kid you not I have looked online for hours looking for the torque spec of that clutch lever pivot pin. Just want to torque it back to where is was. If anyone knows the torque spec for it I would greatly appreciate it. Below is a diagram of transfer case, #13 is the clutch lever pivot pin
  3. I replaced my pass side light bulb about 5 months ago with the same type of halogen bulbs that they come with out of the factory and one day i realized that the same side as before went out. Before that one went out i had a set of after market LED lights. these to be exact https://www.amazon.ca/Lumen-9012HLC-G7-LED-Performance-Bulbs/dp/B01N5Q0TMA i ran those LED's on my truck and they looked great! everything was plug and play they lasted for about 4 months when my pass side bulb gave out on those too. when i took out the bulb to inspect it one of the LED diodes was blown out. I wasn't too surprised by that because sometimes after market parts can be a bit cheaper quality. But when my OEM halogen bulbs went out. thats 3 sets of bulbs in less than 2 years. I am just wondering. Is this bad luck?? Have any of you had this issue before?? if you did what was causing it?? any troubleshooting tips?? I really dont want to keep buying light bulbs every 5 months even the halogen bulbs are a little expensive
  4. I have a 2011 Sierra SLT 1500 Extended Cab, I have rear parking sensors and back up camera which displays in my rear view mirror. I was in an accident and a lot of my front end is being replaced, (bumper, grill, etc). Since I already have rear parking sensors I was curious to know how difficult and expensive it would be, if it’s even practical, to install parking sensors on the front as well. Any input would be great! Thanks!
  5. Hi all, Now that I am a bit older with a family, the days of extreme loud exhaust in sport cars / trucks has come to somewhat of an end. I have a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3l. About a year ago I decided to try out the Magnaflow cat back 3" and had a horrible drone through pretty much the entire RPM range. I tried everything to calm the drone but nothing seemed to work. I tried a couple of Borla exhaust systems and still too loud of a drone. I wanted to share a new cat back exhaust I just had installed that I am more than pleased with. The exhaust is handcrafted by MRT Performance in Plymouth Michigan, near where I live. They use T304 piping and they spent a lot of time developing and perfecting a bad a$$ muffler with a drone rating of 1 out of a 10 scale. Meaning 1 is almost no drone. The exhaust tip comes welded on and nice exhaust clamps are included. A buddy recommended them to me after my numerous failed attempts of finding a low drone, performance exhaust. I wanted to share this because I have read other posts about guys wanting performance exhaust but without the loudness / extreme drone. I have to tell you that I am so impressed and so relieved the drone, that was giving me headaches, is now gone! The low nice sounding rumble is there that at cruising speeds, and going WOT gives me that ear to ear grin! Normally I would not post about products I buy, but I had to share this newest purchase. The nice thing is I can have normal conversations at all RPM levels. The cool thing is MRT posted two nice videos of interior and exterior sounds using their Silverado test vehicle. I purchased the MRT Deep & Mellow cat back. They do ship their systems too. I attached some photos of my truck with the completed system in place. The link to the website is https://www.shopmrt.com/Chevy-Silverado-Performance-Exhaust-s/2273.htm
  6. Same as new Dl8 power heated mirrors and harnesses. they have the built in spotter mirror on drivers mirror, summit white caps, they were removed from a new 2016 Silverado brand new and tow mirrors were installed. tjey been setting in garage since they are in new condition, $150 and I will split shipping cost
  7. Hi everyone, New to the forum but have been doing all types of research so i don't mess this up. I have a 2017 Denaili 1500 with the ultimate package 22" wheels. Of course i already dented and have had my rims fixed because the weak sidewall size of the 285/45 tires and i love the Grappler 2 look when you put 285/55 tires on this truck. I noticed some companies offer Magnaride options and i know i need to find out what control arms i have but aren't all 2017 models the stamped steel arms? At what height do i need to worry about lowering the diff? I see options like Supreme Suspensions have axle alignment shims but don't mention magnaride in the offerings. If anyone could give me some guidance, i would like to do a 3" or 3.5" front and whatever in the back to get it looking proper. I only think i want to do 1" or 1.5" in the back because i read that if you do anymore more, you might top out the shock over bumps and what not. Thank you,
  8. I'm looking to see if anyone knows of anyone who has swapped a LS engine into a GM 2014-2018 1500 series truck. Most likely with the 6L80. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Looking to do this with a LS3, more specifically one from TSP. Been coming up with a new daily driver truck build for myself in the next 1-2 years. Little info for anyone who is interested/wants to suggest anything. Engine/Trans: LS3 from TSP w/ 550-600 HP @ Crank 102mm throttle body ARH LT Headers Electric cutout for exhaust dump CAI Intake TSP, Borla, or Corsa Catback exhaust Custom Driveshaft? 9. Yesterday I had to run to Phoenix and back for work supplies. My company truck is a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 long-wheel-base 2wd with 5.3L V8 (former Uhaul truck). I used cruise control, I meticulously went the speed limit, and I used the air conditioning and stereo during the trip. More than half of the trip I was hauling over 1500 lbs in the bed. By the time I returned the dash was telling me about 25 mpg for the round trip. Manual calculations at the pump said 23.49 mpg. In my opinion that's very good. Here's the video:
  10. Snapped this pic of my 1500 after loading some ties at the rail yard yesterday morning.
