  1. I found a cheap pair of T1 Power folding mirrors on 1AAUTO (NON OEM) that are meant just as a replacement to the OEM Memory Package mirrors, obviously I don't have the memory package but I really wanted to give this a try and so far I would call it a success! This is what I ordered: P/N: 1AMRP03092 The Mirrors (from 1AAUTO.COM) P/N: 84532268 The OEM Power Fold Switch (from any GM Parts store) 22-20 Ga. Female GT 150 Series, Sealed #12191818 The Terminals (from amazon) 22 AWG 6 conductor wire The Cable (from amazon) And The heart of the project: a generic, Chinese, Cheap Power fold mirror controller (from amazon) I WILL MOSLTY BE FOCUSING ON EXPLAINING THE DRIVERS SIDE FOR THIS POST, IT IS ALMOST THE SAME ON THE PASSANGER SIDE EXCEPT THAT SIDE HAS THE AMBIENT TEMP SENSOR. WHEN YOU DISCONNECT THIS SENSOR AND RECONNECT IT THE TRUCK WILL SHOW -40 DEGREES, TO RECALIBRATE THE AMBIENT TEMP SENSOR YOU MUST DRIVE GREATER THAN 65MPH FOR MORE THAN 1 MINUTE. Now my goal for this project was just to be able to power fold my mirrors when I leave my truck and lock the doors, but also unfold when I unlock. I haven't received the interior switch just yet but I am planning on figuring out how to make it work! I started with checking my door harnesses for any existing wire that would make this easier, my truck came from the factory with the wiring for power adjustable mirrors, heated mirrors, and the puddle/task lamps (which is odd because my OEM mirrors did not have the puddle nor task lamps. The new aftermarket mirrors did include the two lights and I was able to get both of them working. Next I played with the generic power fold mirror controller to see how it worked. It has the inputs for lock and unlock as well as inputs for an interior switch. The power inputs are +12V,GND, and ACC. There is just one two-wire output to fold and unfold the mirrors by switching the polarity of the motors. The ACC Wire (Accessory) is required because the controller folds and unfolds the mirrors based on the lock status. When ACC is applied the lock and unlock folding feature is disabled. Next I looked at the GM Upfitter Electrical pinout section to see what pins I was looking for on the Mirror. There are only two pins for the Power Fold Motor, Pin 3 Circuit 3412 Driver Mirror Motor Fold IN Control Pin 15 Circuit 3411 Driver Mirror Motor Fold Out Control I first ran the new wires from the drivers side fuse panel to each mirror going under the dash and through the door harness holes and boots. I then terminated two leads on each side right at the mirror, the cable I used had 6 wires but I just wanted extra for any future projects. The mirrors went on without a hitch, and I pulled the locking pin off the mirror connector and put in my new two terminated leads in there correct positions (polarity really doesn't matter because reversing the polarity will just make the motor turn the wrong way). Now we have two new power folding mirrors with our own DIY harnesses installed and ready to go. Next is finding your power sources and Lock and Unlock signals. For the +12V I used literally any fuse on the drivers side (they are all always powered) and for the ACC I had to run a wire to the heated steering wheel fuse on the passenger side (The passenger side fuse box has both always on power and accessory power). For the lock and unlock signals I used Pins 2 and 4 of the K9 Body Control Module pink X6 connector. These are for the drivers door lock actuator. Finally with the ignition off so that ACC is not powered connect the Fold control wires from the controller to the mirrors and press the lock and unlock button to get the polarity correct. If its wrong just flip the two wires for that corresponding mirror. If you have any questions just reply! You can see the Generic controller tucked away inside the drivers side fuse panel.
  2. Anyone know how difficult it would be to upgrade the rear view mirror? My trail boss came with a "dumb" mirror. No auto dim, no compass, no onstar, no temp read out, nothing. I'd like to at least have auto dimming, compass, and temp read out. Rear view mirror camera would nice too. Is there any chance that the wiring is already there for it and I just need to simply replace the mirror and plug it in? I've seen a lot of aftermarket options and some of them look pretty neat, but for the most part they attach to the existing mirror and I'd like to find something that is as close as possible to stock looking. Thanks!
  3. Has anyone done this yet? I know in the T1 section there's a couple threads on mounting K2 wheels on the T1 trucks, and the calipers being wider and the need for a minor spacer in the fronts. With that, going backwards, there should be plenty of clearance. Any pics? I can find K2 wheels on GMT900 and older trucks for days. I was looking at either an 18" RST set, or the 18" accessory wheel that looks like the Colorado ZR2's wheel. At this point, I'd even look at a picture of 20"s as well.
  4. Hello Everyone. I had a question in regards to GM's 8 Speed Transmission. I'm looking into buy a Chevy Silverado, with the RST package. I've notice that package comes with the 8 speed transmission. However, I have look up online, as well as on here, and I've notice people having a lot of problems with that transmission. I also heard that they have done a fix with that transmission. My question is has any one bought the new body style Chevy truck with the 8 speed transmission and have had any problems with it? Did they actually fix it? What are your thoughts? I'm also looking at other packages as well without this transmission too. Thanks!
  5. Any had any experience with this kit? GM Dash Cam It seem interesting and possibly worth it. It says it has built in ADAS so I'm curious what all that might add to the functionality of the vehicle seeing as this system actually plugs into the OBDII plug and communicates with the onboard computer. Thoughts?
  6. GM has available now factory camper mirrors! Time for a nice run down on them and what is involved. What they are: Factory tow mirrors. https://accessories.chevrolet.com/product/extended-view-tow-mirrors-in-black-84731241?year=2020&make=Chevrolet&model=Silverado%201500&categoryId=98023 Price? Part #? 84731241 is the #, MSRP for the mirror package is $730. What do they feature? Includes lower convex spotter glass, as well as cargo lamps, clearance lamps and integrated turn signal indicator. Manual extend and manual fold. The good: -GM has factory tow mirrors available as an accessory for trucks that don't have them! The bad: - 2020+up ONLY at the moment. They do NOT list them for 2019. - They DO REQUIRE HARNESS SWAPS. Both front doors require new door harnesses. - If you have the front spotter lights in the mirrors or have blind spot alert, THESE WILL NOT WORK! - BCM calibration required for ALL models to make all lighting function. If you have the dealer do it, its about 3.6 hours. Harness numbers will be listed below: 2020-2021 Crew and Double Cab with KEYED ignition and DLF mirror: 84622369 and 84622370 2020-2021 Regular Cab with KEYED ignition and DLF mirror: 84622376 and 84622380 2020-2021 Crew and Double Cab with PUSH BUTTON ignition and DLF mirror: 84622371 and 84622372
  7. Hey guys I had a weird thing happen and I want to know if it has hallened to anyone else. I’ve had my 2019 LT trail boss for less than 6 months and this is the second time it happens and I was able to take a picture of it. Last nigh when I opened the truck with the remote and got in I noticed the screen was on and there was a fisheye view on it. After I turned it on it went off and when I put it in reverse the regular camera turned on. I thought it could be the same camera just a different setting but from the picture you can see the fisheye is left of the regular camera and the angle is different.I thought that bubble next to the regular camera was just an led light and I don’t see the camera in there. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to activate the fisheye camera? Whats the purpose of that camera? I cant seem to find anything about it online.
  8. Hello, I wanted to see if anyone knows the actual answer about leveling a trail boss. Can you really get away with a "cheap" level ie. Rough Country using only spacers or do I need to fork out the extra and get the ready lift or fabtech with the upper control arms. Is the Readylift video brainwashing me or do you really need the control arms?!? Asking because it seems to be about $500 (CAD) difference between the two choices.
  9. Got my hands on a 2020 Silverado 2500hd! Long awaited for me for sure, seeing that they are making their way on to lots. Lets start! Exterior: This particular truck I drove was a Work Truck. In person, the HD is much easier on the eyes, but the WT is, I feel, the least attractive. I think its the black grille treatment that puts me off. This truck had the 17" carryover steel wheels, wrapped in LT265/70R17 Firestone TransForce AT tires (yes, the carryover AT not the AT2). Options list was minimal, including the WT Convenience Package, Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, the AT tires and black bowties. Overall, the truck's exterior is very functional. The bed steps are genius. Sure, they don't tuck away like some aftermarket designs do, however as a result they maintain bed rocker ground clearance like there isn't even a step there. Now, I am personally not a running board guy, mainly for looks (and I think 1/2 tons and Colorados are too low stock for them), but this thing needs them! Definitely an increased step in height with the T1 over the K2 HD. Its noticeable. Also, the size increase is noticeable too. I think its within an inch or so height wise to a Super Duty, and the body is just as wide as one. They dwarf the K2 HD. I do think that the 18" wheels are a must for looks, as they run a 33" tire and suit the truck's profile much better than the 17" wheels do as a result of the 31.5" tire they use. The towing mirrors. Totally functional. I can definitely get behind the way they are mounted once you drive one. This one had the base tow mirror, so just heat and power upper glass. There is much better visibility in the A-Pillar to mirror sightline. I found the extending not what I thought it was going to be? Its actually positionally detented. You pull it out and it comes off the arm a touch and then hits the outer detent. No "in between" position, but that might be just because its the base mirror. Oh! Another interesting fact. No aluminum body panels anywhere that I could see. Its all steel. The hood, doors, tailgate, all steel. Honestly, I was expecting some aluminum somewhere, like the hood at least, maybe the doors. GM wasn't joking when they said it only shares the cab structure, otherwise everything was unique to the HD. The biggest giveaway to those keen enough to notice, is the "CHEVROLET" area on the tailgate. Its nowhere near as protruded on the gate as the 1500 gate. Interior: See 2019+ T1 1500. Don't expect anything different here. Its still a good interior ( I think), apart from some questionable material choices in spots. I will add one important bit. Anyone looking at a WT or Custom trim HD, make sure you sit in an LT or higher with a power seat. The hood is even higher yet than a K2 HD, and the tall front at the end of the hood can be a bit tricky. I'm 5'10" and felt the standard seat to be ok, but some more height would have been nice around a parking lot/close to other cars. The mirrors, see the exterior description above. Powertrain/How it drives: The big bit. This truck had the 6.6 L8T gas V8. For being as large and heavy as this truck is, that powertrain is much improved over the L96, and long overdue. I didn't time anything, but it can move quite well when you want it to. I pulled out from an intersection normally, hit 2nd gear and rolled right into it and it took off quick. The K2 HD dead feeling accelerator pedal is gone too (thank god) and the power feels in line with your right foot. Much better response. Mileage wise, I averaged 15mpg, I'd say 65/35 city-highway split? Even the 6L90 shifting is improved. Do I still hope they throw the 10L90 in it? Yep. But the 6L90 has been a strong unit, and the added power makes it a good package for the time being. The added wheelbase smooths the ride out a touch. Stiffness? Well, its an HD LOL and had 80psi in the rear tires, but it was still well behaved. Overall, a nice improvement on the K2 HD. Love the mirrors, love the power, the bed steps all around. Love the look more or less, could use some interior help for sure. Big thanks to Cavallaro Neubauer Chevrolet in Williamson NY for letting me borrow this beast! 10. Anyone know if it’s easy/ possible to re-route the task lights on the mirrors so that they work regardless of the vehicle being in park? Thanks
  11. What are people using for bike racks in the bed? I'd prefer the bed over the hitch. Thanks
  12. 2019 Chevy 1500 High Country Mods: Dealer Installed Cat-back Exhaust System Upgrade and Cold Air Intake. Next up: window tinting, better tires and a lift. Looking for a good retractable tonneau cover now as well.
  13. A quick tour under the RST Z71 Crew cab that came in Monday. First up, the truck and tow label.
  14. These are 2014's... but imagine this as a line of 2019 Silverado Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 6/4/18 Only eight more weeks until GM-Trucks.com's all new 2019 Silverado roars to life. That is, as long as our LTZ's scheduled production week holds firm. If you've been following along, you know we've already put in our order for an all new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ. About three weeks ago we visited our local dealership, Banks Chevrolet in Concord, NH and placed our order into the system on the very first day we could. Not long after we received our official order number. Now, we can report our order has gone at least a few steps further in the production process and has been assigned a build week and entered Status 3300 in GM's production system. If all goes to schedule, we've learned that our 2019 Silverado LTZ will be built during the week of July 30th, 2018. This assignment of a production week means that all of the parts Chevrolet will use to assemble our truck have been ordered, allocated, and assigned to our vehicle. All we have to do is wait for it to come together at the factory. So if all goes to schedule, when will we take delivery? That's the million dollar question. We assume some level of delay leaving the factory during the first few months of production. Assuming our truck rolls of the line during production week two, we expect a hold before the truck starts the journey to New Hampshire. We're hoping for a late August delivery but are prepared for September instead. No need to rush- we'd like a quality truck please. So how did we get such "insider" information about our truck build? Surprisingly, the Chevrolet.com Website Chat. Yes, the brand's website customer assistance chat app. Which means- if you have an order in for a 2019 Silverado or Sierra, all you have to do is ask the Chevy or GMC website chat representative for help with your order. All you need is your order number. It was quick easy, and we found out our truck's production week in about 5 minutes. We'll keep you updated as we get more details about our LTZ's build progress.
