  1. Hello, about 7 months ago I smoked my 6l80 transmission, removed it with the transfer case still attached last fall, before removing it I made the mistake of putting the transfer case (RPO code NQH) into neutral to aid with removing the rear driveshaft. Fast forward to about a month ago I finally had time to reinstall a new (rebuilt) transmission, upon reinstalling everything I noticed that my transfer case shift knob was not responsive and had no lights (other than on startup when it does a function check or whatever) I got a few wiring diagrams and checked over the whole system, replaced the transfer case actuator motor and the knob on the dash, still cannot get the POS to respond and do something. At a loss with this truck and contemplating scrapping it, it's had 4 motors, and 1 transmission in 126k miles, let alone over 30k in parts and labor. I recently got laid off and buying a fancy scan tool and/or having it sent to a shop is *NOT AN OPTION*. I desperately need advice and or assistance as to WTF I should do with this POS that has been nothing but problematic since day one. below I have sent all the PDF pages I have used to trace and track wiring schematics.
  2. Ok so I have a 2015 gmc sierra 1500. after backing up and putting it into drive I get going for about 5 to 10 seconds ill get a jarring lock up for a split second. First time it happened I was going about 40 and I bounced off the steering wheel and left a little skid mark. It sounds like either my transfer case or transmission is locking up but it literally lasts for a split second then goes away. also I've noticed that after shifting from reverse I hear a loud transmission whine before it does it. This has happened at least 30 times for about a year and dealer says they can't recreate it. It's the 6spd tranny Also I know all about the normal GMC transmission clunk when shifting I have that too but I've learned to live with it. This is something else entirely. Its dangerous and I can't find anything on any forum mentioning this issue
  3. I purchased my first 4WD truck in February (2020 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD 6.2L 2 speed Transfer Case). I wasn't really in the market for a 4WD model, but had to choose one to get the options I did want. So I am unfamiliar with the proper use of 4WD. Specifically: 1) When just driving around town and not towing anything, should I leave the transfer case setting set to 2WD or 'Auto?' 2) The manual recommends not using a automatic carwash without giving a reason. Is there a real 'danger' in using one leaving aside the need to choose one that can handle the size of the truck (I've read the posts about leaks, but that is a different issue for me)? 3) My research suggests that if I were to have the truck towed or pulled through a carwash by rollers behind the front wheels that I should put both the transmission and transfer case in neutral. Is that correct? Anything else I should do (besides turn off the auto windshield wipers setting and keep my foot off the brake)? I did search this forum (and the Internet) trying to find the the answers to these questions, so if I missed something, please forward a link. TIA
  4. Whats up guys, hope all you GM people are doing great. Ive got a 2017 silverado 5.3 Broke my transfer case gears around a month ago and tc actuator, replaces the gears with nitro gears and axles 4.11 and a new actuator. My truck is modified so i dont have warranty, costed me a lot to get the truck fixed from the middle east and parts+labor is much more than what you guys pay in the states. Anyway everything was fine switched the knob to 2-auto-4hi all was good on the road, i just kept the thing on 2wheel drive all the time. I drive usually in the desert/dunes and decided not to use 4 wheel drive at all unless im stuck. didn't get stuck for a good while till this weekend, got stuck switched to 4hi light changded felt the car turning to 4wheel and my friend gave me a tow and as soon as the car got out the sand got the service 4 wheel drive message. turned it to 2 wheel drive and light was stuck on 4hi however the car was not on 4 wheel drive ( did some doughnuts to confirm if the car is on 4 or 2 drive. Anyway now the car is back at the dealership and they want to charge me 2500 usd dollars just to pull down the transfer case and diagnose the issue. The mechanic said he assumes its the transfer case clutch.. Wanted to know your thoughts on this ? plus Isnt their an upgraded transfer case and clutch ? or a rebuild kit ? What are my options if i want to upgrade the transfer case if i have any ? tried google and didn't find much. HELP!!!!!!!!
  5. This truck is my first 4WD/4x4. So a few weeks ago, I put my truck in 4HI, to drive in the snow, no issues. Put it back into 2WD, when I got home, and haven't needed it since, until this afternoon. When I put it in 4HI, it was grind/vibration central, but when I put it back in 4AUTO or 2WD, there is no issues.
  6. whats good guys? so last weekend my 4wd in my 2017 1500 silverado got busted. Guys in the showroom said it overheated and stuff got busted in the transfer case. replaced the whole transfer case + actuator. Just got a phone call saying that 4wd button is not working and not switching from 2wd 4 hi and 4 lo. When it stopped working was stuck in nasty mud and really pushed the truck trying to get out, one of my buddies noticed that only the rear tires were moving and the truck was set to 4hi. tried turning the knob and nothing changed stayed on 4hi and got a service 4wd message that. Now with the new transfer case and actuator guy at the dealership say still the issue is present car is not switching and the light is stuck on 4wd. note: not from the states and the guys at the dealership seem to know less than i do about cars. Can you guys point me in the right direction on what i should advise them to check? or what might be the issue ? where they should look? etc Thank you !
