  1. Hello, first time posting. I'm sure it has been asked prior to my post but I'll be honest 101 pages is a lot to go through. I'm looking at replacing my current (6 speed) transmission with either the 8 speed or maybe a 10 speed. First big question I have, because so far my research hasn't provided many answers is if an 8 or even a 10 speed could in fact fit into my 2014. Secondly, would the computer or any other electronics need updating inorder to support a newer transmission? Any help is appreciated.
  2. Hi everyone, I have a problem with my 4l60e tranny in my 96 Chevy Tahoe 5.7L Vortec. My trans won't shift to 4th gear. When I put shifter into overdrive position and start acceleration trans normaly shifts through 1-2-3 gears. After that RPM goes to 3000 - 3100 but car won't accelerate no more and I get 62 mph and 3000 - 3100 rpm. In shown in this video. https://www.youtube.com/embed/t0zkwD9MMd4 In good case when all work fineI have 80 mph at 2500 rpm. https://youtu.be/hAd4f2r_9sQ After diagnostic I replaced TPS sensor and brake switch, but problem won't go away. What could be the problem ?
  3. Hey y’all! I sold my first gen tundra to move to a crew cab Silverado. I know to stay away from the 2017 models. I’ve settled on a 2018 LTZ, what are the thoughts on the 8 speed? I won’t do much towing with it. Maybe a 5000 pound boat occasionally. 80% city driving and am planning to throw a lift and some 35’s on it. I’ve heard very mixed things so curious you guys thoughts. Thanks so much!

  5. Truck was shuttering a little, almost felt like it was slipping saturday driving in the city, highway fine. Sunday morning there's a whine from the front of the trans at idle. 5 mins down the road the trans/engine revs are jumping all over the place catching and slipping or shuddering till eventually something let go and it starts to coast with the engine reved up. No movement in any gear, engine revving fine, just no power being transmitted in fwd rev or low. Gets towed to the dealer sunday and monday they say its moving fine at least in the lot, they haven't looked into it further yet. Any ideas on what would cause this? It wouldn't even try to move and the next day its moving fine. Also any TSBs with the torque converter or 6 speed trans that might be related? If it is the torque converter do they rebuild the trans as well or just try to flush the debris out? Fortunately its still under warranty (just) but, I like to be informed. Also don't want the trans to go 20k down the road when its out of warranty because it was contaminated. Truck has 145K KMs on it.
  6. Getting some pretty nasty sounds from my transmission and wondering exactly what it may be. It seems to only make this sound when in Park or Neutral and also when the truck warms up, does not make this sound during start up when cold. Truck has about 152,300 miles and i had replaced all the fluid, filter and two solenoids at 148,600 miles 7 months ago. I'm pretty much expecting the worst here, but if anyone could give me some more insight as to whats going on besides it probably dying, i'd appreciate it. Clips of sounds here: https://youtu.be/blljaS5cpcI https://youtu.be/8T5tSLoT8aA https://youtu.be/wVcztpMtngc https://youtu.be/lfWhm7fJrYs
  7. Hello everyone I recently just installed a 3.5inch lift on my truck and ever since than my steering rack has been making some funny noises. Maybe it’s just me being paranoid but when I turn left and right it makes noises such as like I can hear the rack moving. It’s hard to explain the noise exactly. It’s not a strain or clunk or pop or anything it’s just like the rack sounds like it’s working harder than it was before. I can’t remember if before the lift and wheel it made this noise or if it makes it for anyone else. Also with the new wheels (22x14 on 305) my transmissions seems to kick a lot more and has more trouble finding the gears when I’m slowing down and also when speed up. Any help would be great thanks
  8. All gears are working other than 1st, if you put it in drive it starts in 3rd, and you can manually shift it into 2nd but not 1st. I saw on some other forums it could be solenoid A is that right?
  9. 2020 GMC 2500 gas engine. Starts good first of the day and idles smooth in park. Idle becomes rough when put in reverse to back out of garage. Smooth idle in gear after 2-3 blocks. I live in the south but it does it hot or cold weather. I've seen the service bulletin for cold weather starts and added the suggested additional ground to throttle body but no change. Truck has only had Chevron fuel. Has done this since new. Anyone else have this issue? E

  11. Installing a new transmission mount from energy suspension for my 2006 Sierra 1500 4.8 2WD. I’m having trouble aligning the middle hole (theres 3) on the mount with the crossmember hole. Transmission keeps pulling to the passenger side when I lower the jack. There is no play on the mount to move it from side to side, just front to back. Any suggestions?
  12. I have a 1990 1500 and bought it after a 305 5 speed swapped to 1996 350 auto and I just did and engine swap with same engine and I have the truck running well but I can not get the truck to shift out of park and no shift indicator lights are working anymore, is there anyone else that has this problem or can someone help me
  13. Can I use a nv4500 bell house on a sm465 5 speed is fuped. If so cant I just use my existing master line and slave system 1989 k1500 155.5 wheelbase np241c getrag290 5 speed
  14. This is really hard to explain, but I have a 2004 z71 with the 5.3 , 4l60e, the truck runs good not the best but good when you first start it up , but let's say you hit a really long red light or get stuck in McDonalds drive through, and your sitting and idling for more then 5 - 8 minutes, the truck develops these awkward shift point , and when will barely climb up to 65mph , and at say you want to pass someone because their doing 50 in a 65 you give it enough throttle it barely kicks into the passing gear and will hold 2500-3000 and start studdering and popping out the exhaust , same goes for trying to climb a hill you'll be going 65 at the star of the hill and 40 by the top The transmission isn't freshly built but is about 1 and 1/2 years old rebuilt, my mind is telling me maybe it's over heating even though its sitting? Is it starving for fluid? I really dont know, Any tips or tricks to try would be fantastic. Thanks . (Edit)- truck will reset to normal after it sits long enough with key off while getting gas
  15. hey trans guys! lost 2nd gear in my 4l80-e...scanned and pulled p0271and changed all solenoids and fluid while i was there...no change...any of you brainiacs help a head scracthin’ bruthu out?? thanks in advance, paul b
  16. Hey there I am a proud owner of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. The issues I wanted to discuss is the new technology in the truck. What I'm referring to is the E assist system. Only 500 of these were released in California, I own one and love my truck but I believe this system is making the truck drive weird. I'm not sure if it's because it's trying to improve fuel economy or just faulty but when I am coming to a stop I can feel a clunk almost like I was rear ended, I can also feel it when taking off and it's annoying. I wanted to see if any of you have had similar problems in your truck and any advise you had or your experience. I brought this issue to the dealer twice and both times they found issues but none with the e assist system or transmission they claim. I have posted a link to a video of what happened on my last experience to my local dealer. Thanks for any help.
  17. I just purchased a 2019 Silverado RST with the 5.3L, 3.42 Axle, Max Trailering Pkg etc to pull my travel trailer. After we picked truck up we went to dinner when we left the restaurant it would not shift out park. I shut it off and restarted a couple of times then just left it run and after a couple of minutes it would finally shift. I could hear the switch engage and the brake lights would come on but I was unable to pull the lever at all to shift from park. It happened three times this weekend so I took it to the dealer on Monday. They looked it over but didn't find anything wrong and said there were no bulletins on this issue. Anyone else have this experience?
  18. Hi. Vehicle: 1996 GMC K2500 Suburban 7.4 Lt. VIN: 3GKGK26J4TG511185 I need to buy the oxygen sensors and my auto parts store is asking if I have a 4L60-E transmission. Would be grateful if anyone could help me find out the type of automatic transmission in my truck. Based on the VIN, Is it a 4L60-E ? Thank you. Jon
  19. After replacing the thermostat and water pump, a new noise arose it sounded like a bolt rattling around. After further investigation, we replaced the transmission filter and fluid. Found a few shavings, it felt like sand was in the pan. Upon putting everything back together the noise got worse, much worse in reverse. We think it's in the bell housing, couldn't find any marks on the flywheel. Any help would be appreciated.
