  1. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 1-17-2017 Media coverage of the auto industry, and where jobs are moving to and from, is all the rage these days. Even editors that don't know Windsor from Orion have made room in publications for the sudden surge of announcements from Ford, FCA, and now most recently, GM. We've covered the ebb and flow of jobs in and out of the GM sphere for many years as a quick search for the word "Jobs" in our top right corner will prove. With that, GM has just announced a whole bunch of stuff that seems to indicate it is all about building the cars and trucks its sells in the U.S.A. right here inside the U.S.A. First the last bit. GM says that one of its suppliers "...has committed to make components for GM’s next-generation full-size pick-up trucks in Michigan, moving 100 supplier jobs from Mexico to the U.S." That was easy headline bait. It is not even close to as significant as moving the Silverado from Mexico to Ft. Wayne, which was announced last summer. Next up, GM announced a $ 1 Billion dollar U.S. facility investment that it says was not a duplicate of any from 2016 (like this one here). These type of investment notices are important. GM has poured $29 Billion into U.S. operations since the 2009 restructuring. GM's announcement puts the added U.S. jobs benefit of this investment at about 5,000. GM didn't break out how many were manufacturing jobs, which are the ones many folks assumed are created by such investment, but did say that as an example, 450 jobs in Michigan making axles for the full-size trucks GM makes were moved recently from Mexico. 2. I am looking for those who has a USA assembled 2014 Crew Cab Sierra or Silverado. I want to know if you have vibration issues at highway speeds with your truck. I am starting this tread because I have a 2014 GMC Sierra Crew Cab that has a vibration problem. I have been following the vibration thread and can't seem to identify any pattern that is causing the vibration. My dealer has been helpful but is not able to fix the vibration. Like most crew cabs, mine was assembled in Mexico. My build date is November 2013. It is well known that GM had a supply issue with real axles in October 2013. I am wondering if anyone out there owns a crew cab that was assembled in the USA? If so, I believe your VIN will start with a '1'. The VIN on my mexico assembled crew cab starts with a '3'. Thanks.
