John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 6-10-2019 If you are searching for a great value on a lightly used vehicle, iSeeCars.com has some suggestions. The group evaluated about 5 million used car transactions of three-year-old, 2016 MY vehicles to see which had the highest discount off of their new car price. Many GM models make the list. Here's a quick look at the models with the highest depreciation. Graduates take note: In the under $20K category, the Chevy Impala is hard to ignore. With a three-year-old average price of just $14,745 it is a LOT of car for the money. Its 50% depreciation rate over three years is way ahead of the average of about 34%. Those graduates headed into higher-paying new jobs may want to consider the Cadillac CTS. With an average price of just $26,785, it is a luxury car on a budget. The XTS is about the same price, but not eactly a graduate's dream car. However, it is perfect for those looking for an Uber vehicle or airport limo for their fleet. The $26K Buick Enclave also makes iSeeCars family vehicle list. With a depreciation of 48% it is about 10% ahead of the pack. In the truck category, the best deal may be the GMC Sierra. With an average 3-year-old price of $33K it is a value that is hard to ignore. See the full report from iSeeCars here.

I just purchased a new home with about 1.5 acres and several large oak trees. I don’t currently own a mower and I need something now to manage the leaves. I use a JD Z series at work and love it. I have found a used 2015 Z930R for about $3,000 with 1625 hours on a Kawasaki motor. What’s everyone’s thoughts on buying a mower with so many hours? What’s the life expectancy of a commercial mower? Anyone running a commercial Z series with this many hours? I understand that I don’t need a commercial mower for 1.5 acres, but it’s what I’m used to at work, familiar with the operation, repairs, capabilities, etc. but the work mower only has 300 hours...

John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 6-25-2018 A new study by our friends at iSeeCars looks at which vehicles had the largest decline in retained value after three years. In the crossover category, the SRX is the top vehicle in this regard with a 47% reduction in value from its new car MSRP. The second best deal on a three-year-old crossover the study found was the three-year-old Buick Enclave which sells for just under 46% of its price new. iSeeCars.com analyzed more than 4.1 million car sales to identify which models had the greatest loss in value after three years. The BMW 5 Series was the top vehicle with an incredible 53% loss in valuation. Commenting on why the SRX and Enclave found their way to this list, iSeeCars CEO Phong Ly said, “The Cadillac SRX and the Buick Enclave, make the otherwise car-dominated list in the ninth and tenth spots making them attractive options for people interested in this booming vehicle segment. Trucks and truck-based SUVs are known for having the highest value retention, which explains why these vehicle types are absent from the top 10 list. Trucks as a vehicle category depreciate 23.3 percent in three years, which is two-thirds of the 35 percent average across all vehicle segments.” The SRX was replaced by the XT5 in Cadillac’s lineup. The name change may be helping push down the vehicle’s value. “Discontinued cars typically have lower resale values than cars still in production,” explained Ly.
