What Size Socket For Hub Bearing Nut?

brtt485

Question

Hey guys, I am planning on replacing the driver's side hub bearing tonight and need to grab the right size socket. I have seen 35mm and 36mm mentioned. Does anyone know whether the hub nut on the 06 1500 is 35 or 36mm?

Thanks!

you would think the assembly would come with it if it needed to be replaced

You would think, but you would also think that if bought an egr valve it would come with a gasket too.

I only replace them if there doesn't seem to be enough drag when putting it back on. I've never had a problem with them.

There's one I can answer! I just did mine, and a 1 3/8 inch socket worked fine.

I've heard 35, 36, even 35 1/2 mm (is there such a thing?) . The 1 3/8 worked fine.

One thing I'd like to hear someone jump in on: the GM manual states that you should replace the nut with a new one when you reassemble. Does anyone actually do that?

i changed both left and right wheel bearing assemblies on my 06 sierra 4wd and never replaced the nut with a new one, you would think the assembly would come with it if it needed to be replaced idk, replaced both mine 40,000 miles ago and havent had any trouble with them staying on so far knock on wood
