Safe 3rd Seat Storage

Recommended Posts

Looked around and can't find how people are storing the 3rd row seats when taken out of the truck. I know I can tuck them in a corner in the garage, but they'll get covered by sawdust and other crap flying around in there. Covering them with a packing blanket seems like not enough. I'm thinking an old military duffel bag or something similar may provide enough protection to do the trick. I can put 'em in the basement, too, but I'm curious what others do.

Welcome!

When I had my '02 YukonXL, I used to just leave the 3rd seat in the garage and put a tarp over it.

I hang mine off the garage ceiling. Can count the times I've put them in the truck on one hand. Of course, my wife's Enclave seats 7 so we usually take that if we have a car full of kids.

I have had my Tahoe for 4.5 years now and the seats have never been back in. They have been in the back of a closet until recently. I had some of that shrink wrap and so I wrapped them up real good, then taped over that and put them in a storage building until after my house sells.

They would need to be wrapped that well even in a garage because of the dust and other junk that would cover them after a short while out there.

I considered some of that thick visqueen to wrap them in, but since I had the shrink wrap just sitting there....

I've had mine in various places...

When they were in my garage in my previous place - I had them on a top shelf of a shelving unit lying flat, and I had them in giant garbage bags.

My new place has a cabinet that they will fit in, so now I just keep them in there with the doors closed.
