Crazy Noise In 4wd

Recommended Posts

Posted

i have a 06 1500 with 76000 miles i know my cv shaft is clicking a little when i turn and the boot is ripped, now, to the point....

when i put it in 4wd there is a weird noise coming from the passanger side front end and it also pulls and feels funny when driving in 4wd. makes no noise and drives straight as an arrow in 2wd.....

WHAT IS MY ISSUE?!

Are you sure the problem is in the drivetrain or could it be a blown wheel bearing? Your's sounds like the exact same problem I had in my '03 Silverado Z-71. At first I thought it was the transfer case but it turned out to be the left front wheel bearing had gone bad.

Cheers, lvlagnum

i personally think it is a wheel bear/hub. just wanted a little conformation.......

If it was front wheel bearing, why would it drive fine in 2wd mode?

It is natural for a transfer case to whine in 4wd, it is also natural for the truck to wander while in 4wd but mostly to the right as that is the main drive wheel in the front. 4WD is not for dry pavement and NEVER should you make turns in 4wd as this will cause binding of the drivetrain and part breaking.
