Calling All Toyo A/t Or Nitto Tg A/t Riders

Fellas,

I recently purchesed (4) polished 20' OEM GMC wheels to replace my current OEM 17" wheels with 285-70-17 B/S Revos. I have always like the 20's that GMC offered.

Anyway, I will be putting new tires on those 20's with either 285-55-20 or 275-60-20, but I'm have a dilemma with which brand A/T to buy.

What do you guys think....

Im a huge Toyo AT fan. I put a set on my dads expedition that lasted over 70k miles. I used to install them on all the county plow trucks and received great feedback from the drivers, many of which ended up buying them for their personal trucks. And I ran a set on my 05 silverado that i took offroading and they did awesome, even in mud!

With that said... check out the Cooper Zeon LTZs. I ran them on my 08 for a few months before upgrading to the ATZs, but once my current tires wear out ill be putting a set of the 305/55/20 coopers on. Their tread pattern is very similar to the Toyos but i think they have a slightly more aggressive look due to the alternating lug design.

And lastly... i personally can't stand the lightning bolts on the side of the nittos.

Matt,

Thank you for your thought on this issue. I liked the Zeons, but they don't offer 285-55-20 which is what I'm leaning toward. The other issue is deciding on tire size with a 2.5 leveling kit.....decisions-decisions!

Thanks again Matt...

The coopers come in a 275/60/20 (33x11) which a lot of guys are running with their leveling kits. They also come in a 305/50/20 (32x12) which may be a potential... but the 275s would work better on the stock wheels.

Honestly, you're not going to notice a huge difference between 285/55/20s and 275/60/20s. I would focus more on the tire & price before limiting your selection due to one of those sizes only. $.02

I have to agree with you on pricing there is a big difference between the two! I was considering doing a set up like you have, but I may have to use the truck as a daily driver if my Saturn hits the skids!

I size issue with me is that I do not what to over stuff the wheel wells or risk any rubbing, but I will certainly entertain the Zeon 275/60/20 option if you say there's now real issue!

The 285s and 275s are very close in size

285/55/20 = 32.3x11.22

275/60/20 = 33x10.8

Im sure someone with the 275/60/20s will chime in with some pics on stock wheels & a leveling kit... i recall there being multiple members here running that setup.

My trucks is a daily driver... do it

I love the looks of the Cooper's but another consideration is that unless I'm looking in the wrong place the 275/60/20 only comes in a P rated tire.

I have had both on my O7 and the Nitto's are very noisy and rough. stay with the Toyo!!! I had mine for 75K and the only reason for changing was to some cracks in the grooves. Had coopers on all of my other vehicles but Coopers did not have a tire in the 18" rim for the style I wanted. Good luck.

My Nittos are quiet as can be, I imagine that the Toyos are to, since Nitto and Toyo are the same company.

Mine too. IMO, the TG's have a more aggressive look when compared to the Toyo's, and I haven't put a measuring tape to it, but it would appear that the Coopers run small. And Matt is just a "hotwheels hater." Don't listen to him. :dunno: When deciding on the three of these, I would base it on the price tag.
