I bought a iPod adapter from USA spec first thing when I got my truck. It seems like it is a lot better than the factory options. It charges my iPod, turns it of when the truck goes off, pauses the song if I go to a different station or band, and allows me to use controls on head unit/steering wheel to pick songs/random/playlist/artists etc.

I don't have the Nav headunit but I think they have a unit to support that head unit. It appears that their web site is jacked up because it says they don't make such a thing but call them because they do. I have one.

They make one for the NBS (2007-2010)? Were does it plug into the radio? How much did it cost?

Thanks!

I just ordered NAV so it looks like I won't need it. I wonder how iPod works with 2007-2009 NAV without USB? Or does it?

Right. All that and charge it too. The dealer told me that I would need something called a PAL device in my 2009. He wasn't sure if it applied to 2010 with USB.

Thanks for the info.

what do you mean by all of the functions? I can skip songs, pick play lists, etc.

If you have a 2009 that is not equipped with NAV, the dealer is right about you needing the GM PAL unit. I bought one for my '08 before I realized it wouldn't work with the factory NAV, so now it's just sitting unused in a box on my desk. Cost me $171.08. If you're interested in going that route I'd sell it to you for that price.

OK - I took one for the team here and just ordered the 2010 NAV unit off e-bay. After talking to the vendor, he said there is a USB port on the back of unit and all I need to do is run an extension cable. He said the entire package should be plug and play with the Bose equipped vehicles from 2007-2010. No dealer reprogramming needed. It is shipping ground from MN today so I will not be able to verify any of this until late next week. I also ordered the "unlock" kit which will allow DVD and NAV in motion for a grand total of $1690 delivered. If all works as advertised, this is not a bad price from what I've been seeing.

Is this a factory NAV unit? Or is it made by Roadview? I tried talking with the service tech and he said if I am willing to spend some money they can dig into it but no guarantees. He started talking about checking the BCM so I am not sure they know what to look for? I am about ready to take a 2010 for a long test ride to do a little R&D.

It is the factory unit (made by Denso?) for sure. The dealer near me is clueless but did point me towards an aftermarket installer for help. Turns out, I know the guy and have talked to him already. He did not know about the USB. He will after I'm done because he said he would help install mine. :sigh:

For NAV without USB, you would have to buy an aftermarket adapter that costs just about as much as the GM one I have.

Well I took one for the team as well and paid a whoppin $7 to one of the Justanswer Chevy Experts and he told me I need the following. 1.) 2010 radio with USB, USB Port and Cable. Kinda obvious but at least now we know it seams achievable. I asked him to give me a GM P/N for the 2010 radio with USB and he'll provide that to me tomorrow. Unless someone already knows???

One just sold on ebay for $550. Here are a few pics of the unit.

Hey Ray,

What are the details of this unit? Is it a 2010? What is the e-bay link or id #?

Thanks

I am not sure if were talking about he same unit here? I am asking for a GM P/N for the Factory Non Nav, Non Bose with USB radio. I am still waiting to hear back from my source. In the meantime I called my local dealer to see about ordering a 2010 radio and they said it's about $350 however it can't be done unless you have a 2010 radio to replace it!!! :sigh: What the heck? I guess these radios are contracted to Denso or something. This is turning into the same mountain were climbing to get the Bluetooth VCIM. Is it me or is GM holding these features back to make customers buy their almost 40K trucks with them installed!!

It's starting to sound that way. Of course it's also possible the dealership you called are just being difficult. Try calling around to a few more dealers and see what they say.

Or for that matter.... Rich, you got any thoughts here?

And I have to say, somebody freaking STOLE that $550 unit.... that's an unbelievable deal.

Yeah, I have a 2009 with the Bose non-nav radio. I think it was about $150 FROM Crutchfield, I suggest calling them because their tech support is really good and will make sure you get the right one. It plugs into the XM unit under the glove box. Then you just use XM channel 253 for the ipod.

I was at the dealer again today to get a quick wash and took the radio part number into the parts counter. I said "can you look up this part for me and give me a price?" It came up $317.00 and said radio. The guy said thats strange so he dug into it further and called a supplier of his. This supplier had the radio on hand and they are willing to sell it to me after confirming it came with USB. They warned me that there would be no returns so it was a buy at my own risk. I know for sure the theftlock will enable when installed and require the VIN to be re-programmed for $60.00. And there may be more modules that need to be re-flashed. Its a hard pill to swallow for $377.00 and no guarantees. But at least they were willing today to sell it to me today!!! :P I just got a VCIM off Ebay so my funds were depleted for this month... I hope someone with money to burn will give this a shot!!!

Even if it is a brand new radio you would have to get it unlocked? I don't think that is the case here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That is good to know. I also am low on funds but I will be keeping that part number handy.
