Is My Truck Lifted From The Factory?

To me, it sounds dumb to ask. But I went shopping around for some basic maintenance parts today, and I got asked that questions a few times. I was shopping for shocks, brakes, and tune-up items. Seemed odd to me, that when the guys looking up the parts would get to the brakes, they would ask if I had a 2" Factory lift. When it happened at the first shop, I said the truck didn't have a lift kit. He looked at me kinda funny, and went on.

At the next shop, same thing... when getting to the brakes, I was asked if it had a lift. This guy actually took the time to explain to me that GM did have an option for a 2" lift on some trucks. Why it would affect the brake options and not the suspension is beyond me.

But, in any case... how can I tell? Call the dealer and give them my VIN?

Yeah some trucks...usually HD's have a 2" body lift to clear the massive Allison trans.
