Better Suspension On Ltz?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys just wondering what is the difference about the frames/suspensions or components from the Silverado LS & LT from the LTZ? My old '08 had a nice ride, and even with the 22s it was pretty smooth, however my new LTZ came with 20s and it rides A LOT smoother. Feels like I'm drive a newer Caddy. So whats the difference? And will my 22s feel smoother than my last truck when I swap them after winter? If so, how would 24s ride?

There is no frame difference however the LTZ front struts, rear springs and shocks are designed for a more comfortable ride vs. say a Z71 package that is designed to be more reactive for a performance feel. You'll notice switching to 22's or 24's if you don't increase the overall tire size but it won't be as harsh as say an LT model. The more you reduce the sidewall, the harsher the ride will be assuming they are the same rated tire. Just for the record are you picking on caddy's?

Oh ok. It must be the struts, springs and shocks then. The 22s on my old truck didnt make much of a difference in ride, so I DOUBT i'll feel the slight change on my new one. And hellllll no! I love Caddy's, theres 4 in our family haha. I woulda got the EXT but I could only find used ones with 40k+ on them, yet for the same price of those ones, I got the next best thing... White diamond fully load LTZ ;)

This is what makes the difference in ride/handling,It has nothing to do with whether or not its an LS,LT,LTZ,etc.

Oh ok. That makes sense. I believe my old '08 had the Z60.

If your new one has factory 20's it also has the Z60 suspension (Z60 is required with the factory 20's)

Sorry, I think I got the two mixed up.

'08 came with 18s (Z??)

'09 came with 20" chrome wheels (Z60 i guess)

Yep,If your '08 had 18's then it had the Z71 suspension,as the 18's were only available with the Z71 pkg. for '07/'08.

And like I said,If your '09 has factory 20's,then it has the Z60 suspension.

My '08 has factory 20's, but my documentation shows Z85 suspension.

You better look again,Or theres a mistake...20's from the factory require the Z60 suspension.

Post me the last 8 digits of your VIN and I can run a build sheet.

Yeah,The SUV's are different with the suspension packages...ZW7 is standard on LS/LT models,w/Z71 being optional on LT's,and Z55 is standard on LTZ models.
