1991 Silverado C1500 Brakes

I have worked on the brakes on more than a few of early to mid nineties trucks and I find that they all seem to have a soft brake pedal no matter how good of a job you do adjusting and bleeding the brakes. Is there something with the abs controller that needs to be done? I don't understand the soft pedal. I also have a 2001 with 4 wheel disc and it has the pedal is firm and the brakes work great. Am I missing something with the early nineties trucks?

My mechanic says he bleeds them with motor running. I have the same issue on my 95 Blazer. I can't see where it helps.

yeah, all 90 vehicles with first gen ABS have "soft" feeling peddles. My grand dad unhooked his ABS from the wheels and from the control module in his 92 sunbird and they were still soft. Its something to do with the booster they used in those year vehicles. We always wondered if you put a restriction Orifice in the booster vacuum line would it firm them up...less boost would make a firmer peddle...but not enough vacuum would mean you couldn't lock the brakes up.
