Question
Krothwiler
I have a 1951 228-cid, 6-cylinder that wore out, (destroyed), one of the intake valve oil shields, (GM Group# 8.0810, p/n 2135404). The machine shop was not able to find a new one but did a valve job anyway. How crucial is that shield to the operation of the engine? Can I run the engine without that one? I intend to continue my search for one, (hopefully, another complete set), but may have to put the engine together before I find one.
