Exhaust Help

I have been searching for an exhaust for my 09 Silverado. I found someone local selling a Gibson Super Truck #65629 exhaust. he had it on a 2008 Silverado 4.8l. When I looked up the exhaust on summit's website it says "Fits applications equipped with active fuel management". I know he didn't have AFM on his 08 4.8, and neither do I on my 09. My questions is, when can I find out 100% if this exhaust will work fine on my 09 4.8l silverado? I attached a pic he sent me. he is supposed to clean it up and send me another pic later today. I think I can get it for $150. Is that a good deal, or is it to messed up to bother with?

thanks,

chris

go to this site and add your vehicle and it should tell you if it fits.

if it doesn't fit directly, i would talk him down and take it to an exhaust shop and get them to put in some new pipe and make it fit.

i wouldn't buy a used exhaust system though.

Not trying to mess up a deal, but I've got a Gibson #65629 stainless steel SuperTruck system on my 2009 GMC Ext Cab 6 1/2 foot bed, and it doesn't look like that picture. I've included the Gibson website and installation instructions so you can make your own decision.

The kit now comes with an adapter tube to be fitted to the headpipe in place of the flange in order to mate up with the bell end on the cat end.

Thanks for all of your help. I decided not to go this route and instead I am going with a brand new Magnaflo #16568 complete stainless, dual rear catback with a lifetime warrenty. I ended up getting the kit for my 09 silverado brand new for jsut over $450 shipped.

thanks,

Chris.

Good choice....I had the same Gibson set up on an F150 a few years ago and hated it.....loud, drone, etc.

I currently have a magnaflow catback and I love it....makes any SBC sound great in my opinion....not loud and obnoxious but quality sound....

Gibson uses a different muffler on the #65629 system (a flat, instead of round one) that works with AFM/DOD engines and fights drone. See the listed pdf above.
