Do anyone knows what tranny live in a Yukon XL 2004 4X4 8.1L, Is it a 1000 Allison or a 4L80E ? I hear that the Burb had the 4L80E and the Yuk have the Allison.

Thanks

It has the 4L80E,The Allison would not fit under the body of the Suburban/Yukon SUV's.

This is why the HD pickups have a 2" body raise,to accommodate the Allison.

That's not what's that site says

Well,That sites wrong,I order parts for these trucks everyday....You couldn't get the Allison in the 8.1-2500 Suburban/Yukon's due to fitment issues. Same way with the G-vans with the 8.1 or DMAX,no Allison.

Thank's a lot MS3DALE but I don't have the VIN right now, in fact is a truck I have a eye on. There's saled it for $14,595.00, it is a 2004 Yukon XL 4X4 2500 whit the 8.1L under the hood. What do I have to look at to see that is not been lifted ? And what do I have to look at overall before bying ? Odometer said 91 K miles. Oh yeah NAV too and bizare, the back up camera, does it exist on a 2004 ? Anyway I try to go see it this week and I let you know.

Thanks

Not OE from the factory,None of the GMT800's had factory back-up cameras,And NAV wasn't available 'til '05.

1) It has a lift via cranking the T-bars or otherwise. Nothing special there.

2) Nav was added. Lots of aftermarket double din units drop right in and "look" factory if you don't know what you're looking at. Hence the back up camera add on, etc.

There's no way it would have an Allison trans without some serious and costly changes, and the Nav is similar. Could be factory in an '04, but most likely wasn't. People and dealers make ads all the time without a clue what they're talking about, but they sure do sell it like they do.

As I said,If you get me the VIN I'll be able to tell you exactly how it was built originally.

All the GMT-800 big block Suburbans and Avalanches had the 4L85 E trannys. Basically the same as the 4L80's with some internals beefed up. As said before the ALLY transmissions would not fit.

Thanks for the clarification on the 4L80E/4L85E part,I was wondering about that after I posted my response.

BTW..The RPO code for the 4L85-E tranny is MN8.
