Can 2007 Sierra Key Fob Be Reporgramed Without Going To The Dealer?

One of the 2 Key Fobs I got with my 2007 Sierra does not work. Check the battery and then took it to the local GM Parts dept to be tested. All 4 buttons worked. The Parts guy said it would cost between $35 - $45 for the Service dept to reprogram it to my VIN number. Is there any way to do it on my own (i.e. some mystic web site)?

Thanks

Another simple question about GM remote keyless FOBs:

Can a 3 button remote be programmed to work on a vehicle with remote start (IE: 4 button remote?)

Also, if the 4 button remote is said tbe from a different vehicle (IE: Denali or Saturn) can it still be programmed for a Silverado?

Tks

Yes, the instructions are on the web. Pretty easy too.

Thanks Steven. Do you have the web site name that I should search on?

Try this

1. Close all vehicle doors.

2. Insert the key into the ignition.

3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver's door panel-continue to hold down until instructed to release.

4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in fairly rapid succession.

5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine).

6. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

7. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

8. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

9. Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The vehicle will lock and unlock the doors automatically.

10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously until the door locks and unlocks. This step may take up to 30 seconds.

11. Repeatstep 10NOWfor each additional transmitter (including any existing transmitters).

12. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.

There might even be a section in your owners manual on how to program them.

I've done it before and it's fairly simple.. just gotta know the steps.

Not sure if this is different but should be the same.

Close all the vehicle doors.

Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.

Press and hold the DOOR unlock switch.

While holding the DOOR lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.

Release the DOOR unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.

Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one keyless remote. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds , the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.

Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters.

Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (one more click forward) position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode.

Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation
