Crew Cab Owners, How Do You Carry Your Fishing Poles?

you're right, i really didnt think of how much wide the bed is allowing them to go diagonally

i went out for the first time this season with a buddy of mine who was showing me some new spots and we basically had to leave the tailgate down to get the rods in (crew cab s10) so it had me thinking

I keep an UglyStick in my truck as my "OMG this drive home from work is insane I need to fish NOW" pole. It breaks down nicely. Everyone else I know just leaves the tailgate down for short trips and ties them down.

I carry an eight foot and seven foot fishing rod inside the cab. Just put it katty corner from the passanger foot well to the drivers side rear cab. Still room for passanger and one in the rear seat. With more than one pole I use rubber bands or Q ties to keep the rattles down.

I also do the diagonal in the bed thing. I've always been meaning to get some huge ass PVC pipe and make some sort of containers for the poles. You could even put a tie-down eye bolt or something in them.

But I haven't had one blow out of the bed yet! :knock on wood:

You didn't try before posting did ya? I can fit 7 foot poles in the bed kitty corner no problem. Make sure you secure your ice chest though unless you want a bed full of cracked poles. :happysad:

or you can try one of these if you're hardcore. http://www.thehulltruth.com/fishing-miscel...od-holders.html

i mounted a pvc rod holder to my tailgate. sure the poles stick straight up in the air but it doesnt seem to hurt them......but it also helps that im less than 10 min. from the river and only 15 from the beach. :happysad:
