Temp Sensors On Rear Axles?

I was underneath the truck this evening looking at the rear axles and springs. I noticed a wire going into what appears to be a small sensor at the bearing point (outside end) of the rear axle on both sides. Are these temp sensors?

Interesting that they put speed sensors at the outside axle bearings.

They are at the bearings on the front as well. That way they pick up actual wheel speed v/s driveline speed which could be false if a single tire locks up.

All vehicles that have 4 channel ABS and StabiliTrak have four sensors. Vehicles prior to StabiliTrak had a 3 channel ABS and three sensors.
