Loss Power High Gas Milage V6

I have just purchased a 2001 v6 ext cab.Something is wrong.the truck act lazy ,14 city 16 highway i have came up with .Changed plugs,cleaned mass airflow ,replaced gas filter ,clean airfilter,TP sensor because when i push on the pedal the tranny will not switch as i would expect and i have to floor it really hard i mean i have to stand on it to make the trany switch back more.One more the exhaust is black all the time .I do not haul anything ,i just carry my pressure washer stuff on it.I have no idea more what would be the problem.

Sounds like a vacuum leak.

 

Take a can of brake clean and fog around the base of the TB, around the intake gaskets, and anywhere else vacuum could leak out...if you get puffs of white smoke coming out the exhaust and/or a change in idle speed, you have a leak in that area.

 

You can also do this procedure with a propane or butane torch.

 

 

 

Check the ECM as well to see if any codes are stored and not lighting the CEL.

i have done that too with my friend who is a mechanic but it was dark and that was a fast spray around ,i'll buy another can tom.and spray the whole thing.We could hear some hissing noise but it seem to come from the steering pump area ,i do not know if there any vacuum there.Do u guys have any description or service manuall where can be vacuum hose or any component ?

I have checked all pssible leak area and no leak .The car running good idle ok but will not accelerate too good ,when i drive on highway and floor it will not switch gear ,i have to floor it very hard to make it switch gear .So weird i do not know what is wrong with it.

This appears hauntingly similar to what happend to my old V6. Just lost power, wouldn't hold a rev, weird shift response, and rough running....Ended up being the EGR valve hanging up on carbon deposits. Dealer tech told me this was a simple clean-out using a screwdriver & shop vac as if they see it frequently.
