2009 Hd Work Trucks

They have large rebates ($ 7k) on remaining new 2009 HD regular cab trucks. What kind of mileage can one expect from a regular cab, long bed 2WD 2500 HD truck (6.0 liter V8 and 6 speed auto, 3.73 gears)?

I get 12-13 with my crew cab '06 w/ only the 4spd so you should @ least get that since you're lighter and have more gears...but then again who knows

Unless you are paying cash, take the low interest over any rebate. Otherwise, you end up paying more than the rebate over the term of the loan.

I drive an '08 2500HD Single cab 6.0L w/ Knaphide Carter service body mounted to the back. With all my tools and gear loaded up I get 10.7 mpg no matter how I drive really. When I first got my truck and it was brand new and empty I drove it around unloaded for about two eeks doing estimates and got 13-14 mpg.

You might do better than me though with a truck that has a regular bed on the back.

10-14 MPG.

0% interest is a scam & will not be cheaper than a $7k rebate.

Example;

$30k loan at 0% for 60 months = $500 per month ($30k total out of pocket).

$23k loan at 5.9% for 60 months = $443.59 per month ($26,615.14 total out of pocket).

In this case your 0% financing cost you an extra $3,384.86.

There is an easy way to check your actual numbers;

- Open Microsoft Excel

- Enter "amortization" in the search box & download one of the templates

- Enter the amount both ways to see your monthly payments & total out of pocket

Personally I would much have lower principal & higher interest anyway - you can choose to make any extra payments to reduce your total out of pocket on the back end.

(If you belong to a credit union you might be able to get a better rate than what the dealer is offering.)

However, if you have negative equity (trading a vehicle worth less than what you owe), like most consumers, then 0% makes much more sense than the rebate. You never want to pay additional interest on top of an existing loan.
