'00 Z71 4wd Noise & Chatter

Annihilator

Question

Well I put it in 4HI yesturday and at low speeds it feels like something is rubbing/grinding. If I make a u-turn, it chatters so much the tires chirp. The previous owner had some transfer case seal replaced and the fluid about a year ago. I checked fluid recently and its good. What do you guys think it is?

Sounds diff related...but it acts crappy on dry pavement anyway. Not enough drivetrain slippage so it will be jerky and squeel and rub. Take it out to gravel if you wanna test the 4wd properly.

4WD should never be used on dry pavement.

I understand but i don't believe this is normal as my Tahoe was nice and smooth and so is my friend's sierra. The grinding is coming from the driverside as well.
