Gear Ratio Question

My son bought a used 1990 1500 silverado. 5.7 auto 4X4

The pinion gear shattered and we need to replace it. Can anybody tell us how to find out the gear ratio so we can get the right one. We can't find a build sheet and also know that some modifications have been done to this truck (nothing recorded ofcourse). Is there some marking somewhere that might help us?

You can try giving your vin number to the dealership, they should tell you.

Just count the ring & pinion teeth and the ring teeth by the pinion.

Thanks to those that responded, We got it figured out. Found the RPO codes in the glove box and confirmed by counting counting the teeth on the gear.
