Brake Lights 2005 Silverado

hello, I was curoius if any one had problems with their brake lights just stopped working. Brake light on the cab works, signals and backups are fine. All the fuses checked inside interior\dash....are ok...are there any other fuses? thanks johnniep

The brake lights on my wife's 05 Tahoe just stopped working last week. Or should I say, the passenger side brake light stopped working. The driver side had been out for a while and I just kept forgetting to change the bulb. Then, weekend before last, she told me that her cruise control wasn't working. After checking around on the 'net, I found issues with the cruise control not working when the brake lights stop working. After checking the lights, sure enough both bulbs were out. Changed the bulbs and both now work as they should, along with the cruise control.

 

I did notice that the bulbs were nearly impossible to pull out of the sockets. When I finally got the bulbs out, I noticed that both of the sockets looked to be melted slightly where the contacts are. I plan on getting a couple of new sockets and changing them out and putting a bit of dielectric grease on them, to hopefully keep the problem from coming back.
