2007 Suburban Liftgate Malfunction

Brewboy

Question

Posted

We have an 07 Suburban with power rear lift-gate operated by 3 different methods.

1. remote key fob

2. lift-gate handle

3. front interior overhead console switch

When all three are tried the power lift-gate opens about 1/4 then stops abruptly and closes again completely.

Any suggestions to repair?

i have no access to GM service info ,i was a gm tech for many yrs, there are guys who can run a bulletin check, not sure how many there are ,a few GM techs are here for sure and the original guy who started it is gone i guess.

i think that when a guys truck is under warranty, why ask a question ,if it does not work out for a service visit, different story,i have advise for that,

I hope ya get what i mean .

no harm no foul, take care ,good luck with your truck

07's are coming off warranty and I thought when we asked a question on this particular post it was the equivalent to asking a Tech at the dealer both having the same access to GM Technical Service Information.

I like having good background information from this and other sites before going in to the dealer so I don't get mislead.

This site is extremely educational, so much so we often learn more about a particular problem from posts by GM Techs then the actual dealer service staff know.

Next time maybe.

Im must apologize then.

I was under the impression that a post called "Ask the GM Tech" referred to the owner of a GM Truck asking for service issue help from a certified GM Tech.

"Take it to the dealership" is not help, anyone other then a GM Tech can offer that comment.

I was wrong and I should be the one who apologizes for the error in judgement.

I have the same issue with my 2007 Tahoe, liftgate opens 1/3 to 3/4 and then closes (as if it had a sensor that it was going to hit something so it closes, like a garage door would).

I was wondering if you ever found a solution?

Thanks!
