Body Lift Or Suspension Lift

Recommended Posts

I just put a 2 inch leveling kit on my truck, and now I want to go bigger. The question is, what should I go with... A 3 inch body lift from zone, or a 4 inch suspension from Rancho. Thoughts and opinions are appreciated

that depends how high you want to go. the rancho is more of a 5" kit than a 4" kit however. IMO go with a 6" suspension kit.

I really want to keep my stock 17s and thought I would have issues if I went with a 6 inch suspension

Don't you always preach the body lift? Why the difference? j/w.

The body lift is great for people wanting 3-4". He already has a leveling kit and wants to go bigger..... if he does the body lift he's going to be maxed out and still have to do a susp down the road to get more height.

its an addicting hobby, and i dont want to see a thread 6 months from now that says "how can i get 2 more inches? i already have a leveling kit and body lift".

so in cases like this where a suspension lift is on the table.... the suspension lift is the way to go. then 6 months from now we'll see a thread titled "should i do the 1.5 inch BL or go all out with the 3inch"... lol so i guess the end result will be the same

Well if you already invested money in a leveling kit and you are wanting to go higher, seems like to me you already have your answer. Suspension lift would be the best way to go seeing you are wanting to go bigger. As for your 17, find a kit that can still use your stockers with it without having any issues.

I guess we should ask the OP what is your goal with your build at this time? What size tires, etc.? Are you going mild or wild?

imo, anytime a "real" suspension lift is listed as an option, that is the way to go.

body lifts are great for those looking for a bit more height and want bigger tires without the price tag of a small suspension lift (and in my case no driveshaft mods for awd and avoiding state inspections).

if price is a factor, then yeah..... go with the body lift. but if the OP is willing to spend the money for a real suspension lift, thats the route i would recommend.

+1. Go with a 6" now and be happy later.

Is there a big price difference between a good 4 inch suspension and a good 6 inch?

nope. they contain the same components so the design and manufacturing cost is the same for the most part.
