How loud are you wanting? I have had a 18" magnaflow on one truck, 14" on the 04 truck I had and now I have a 11" on my current truck. The best thing to do, to avoid drone, is to put the muffler as far back to the rear axle as you can. Can I ask where did you get your grill from?

Just a little bit of a growl nothing too excessive and no drone. This is just by replacing the muffler not the whole system right. The Grill is from a local supplier in town where I work. I believe he got it off of autoanthing.com

Just heard from a well-known performance shop here in town that Corsa will no longer be selling mufflers by themselves, and Magnaflow is soon to follow in their footsteps. Basically, you will have to buy the whole exhaust system if you want the muffler.

Flowmaster sells the muffler by itself. I have the "super 40" and I'm happy with it. It does have some drone, though. But it never gets annoying to me.

i have a flowmaster original 40 on my 04 4.8. 3" in/ dual 2.5" out turns down at muffler paid 180 for the muffler piping and instal

I have a flowmaster 50 series Big Block muffler on mine. Absolutely no drone yet a deep tone under acceleration. I think there's a stock replacement in that series. Muffler should cost you $110-129 and the install maybe $75.

I would say go with a 18" magnaflow. No drone at all and adds a little growl. So when is magnaflow going to stop selling mufflers by themselves?

Magnaflow hands down. You couldn't give me flowmaster again. I had the 30-series and 40-series cat back and they both sucked. Other than sound, thats all it had going for it. Lost low end torque, droned like a mother while towing and rusted out in 2-1/2 years (Pa Winters). Installed Magnaflow and gained mileage torque and was all stainless.

Anyone who claims no drone and more power is DREAMING or fibbing.

14" or 18" magnaflow if you want a nice replacement.

Uh, yeah.....Flowmaster 30's and 40's drone no matter what you do to the exhaust [mainly cause they do not cancel sound], that's a given, but 50's don't. Doesn't matter how anyone tries to say they do, they simply don't. And mileage claims just from swapping mufflers are dubious as well....kinda like CAI claims. I've never gained mileage from a muffler change alone.

I achieved what your looking for by swapping in an 18" 5X8" Magnaflow, it has a nice deep growl, and is quiet when you want it to be, but it will rumble when you step on it. I have a link in my sig to a video, also if your looking for a tip, summit has nice weld on stainless tips for less than 30 bucks

Flowmaster....... Without a doubt..... Nothing sounds better..... I got pissed and bought a Borla system for my truck ONLY BECAUSE flowmaster did not have a stainless system..... I have already rotted out, one flowmaster system on my truck.

Your just going to pick up some tone.... I doubt HP....

Not to be the downer here, BUT if an exhaust system is a financial hardship for you, why are you spending the money on it?

Your financial position is not any of my business, but if money is tight and your current muffler works, why get a new one?

This is my second truck, and on both I've had 40 series Flowmaster muffler. I would like running another exhaust system on my truck, but I'm so used to the Flowmaster sound. And I don't mind the drone, I didn't notice a loss of low end torque at all. I think the sound of the Flowmaster mufflers will for years keep me buying them for my trucks.
