2008 Cadillac Escalade Engine Knocking/lifter Noise

Just bought my truck last week from a GM dealership in my town. It has 23K on the odometer, and of course has the 6.2L engine.

I have noticed on cold starts that the engine knocks a bit, and the lifters make a tapping noise. If I drive the vehicle, it literally sounds like a 1980s beater. Again, this only happens on cold starts, or if it's sitting for a couple of hours.

I don't mind taking it in to the dealership, but I really don't want them tearing my engine down (mechanics are literally stupid at this particular dealer). Next closest GM dealer is 3 hours away.

I am 23 years old, and I paid cash for my truck. Not sure if I made the right choice or not. Can somebody help me out?

I would take it to the dealer - if you have problems with bonehead mechanics or service reps - Call the 1-800 number in your manual for GM head office. I had problems with my local dealer charging me for servicing my brakes as they squeeled LOUD and the truck is at only 6000km. They tried charging me (without fixing the problem) so I called GM Canada, and within 10 minutes the rep had called the dealership and told them to drop the bill before I go somewhere else/buy another product. The rep at GM Canada was really nice and helpful - she gave me her extension number for any future problems.

So take that truck RIGHT back in and get 'er fixed!!
