Finally A 2010 Non-denali W/6.2 (good Price?)

Recommended Posts

Had a local dealer looking for some time for a 2010 Sierra SLE with the 6.2l engine with no luck, until today. I got this in an email. Is it a good price? Keep in mind that is Canadian $$.

MSRP 48,330

Sale Price 37,900

OMVIC 5

Tire Tax 29.20

Etching 220

----------

38,154.20

PST 3,052.34

GST 1,907.71

Lic Fee 50

-----------

43,164.25

GM Loyalty 1,000

-----------

Balance 42,164.25

Finance balance with $0 down over 84 months for $299 Bi-weekly.

Also, there is still my trade, and anything I can put down.

Seems like a better idea then a 2007-08 Denali for the same kind of money. Just don't get all the luxury stuff. But do get a new vehicle, not a 2-3 year old one.

Thanks.

I'm in Canada here too and I say you should go for it. That isn't a smoking deal but it certainly is good. I know back in '07 when I bought a new dodge dakota I paid almost 40k taxes in. And I've priced out a new truck when I was looking last year and the lowest I could get with a 5.3 was 43k loaded. So i say go for it!

That is not a $54418 truck.

Ya, I just copied an pasted that from the e-mail, but I agree. I would likely pay cash for it, if I can get it passed the wife that is ;)

SLE...wow, thats pretty basic. It's pretty expensive compared to the competition right now...I'm from Ontario and you can get a brand new Ram SLT with the Hemi 4x4 for 28k + tax and the f-150 4-door 4x4 is 29999 + tax. I don't really know the current prices for the GMT-900s but 42k seems kinda steep for whats out there by the competition. If the 42k was a SLT, then it would be a good deal but its SLE, bare basics but with a 6.2L

That's less than what I am paying for my SLE 5.3 Then again I got full warranty, and they paid off the loan of my previous truck so that did add an extra 12k or so to the price.

what the ratio us vs can exchange

It is close to par, but vehicles are always more expensive in Canada, despite the exchange rate.

You guys don´t even wanna know what I paid for my Denali here in Germany...I still can´t believe how the government rip us of with what you in the US know as chicken tax... :)

But the best part is that even our own vehicles (Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche etc. are more expensive here than in the US :) )...

Is it a good price?

To keep it "apples to apples" comparing the price of a truck - you have to keep all taxes and fees out of the equation. They vary so much from location to location its easy to miss a couple thousand dollars one way or the other...

Secondly - you have to know what if any specific options in addition to the basic trim package {SLE, SLT etc} are on that specific truck. Here again that could be several thousand dollars one way or the other...

2010 Sierra SLE - Is this a Regular, Extended or Crew Cab? Would the same truck from Chevy be any less money?

If you don't pay close attention to the specifics - you will never know if you got a good deal or not - and Truck Salesmen depend on that...

$48,330.00 MSRP? If vehicles are more expensive in Canada than in the US - what would the MSRP be on the exact same truck in the US?

$48,330.00 MSRP

Sale Price $37,900.00 {is the Dealer discounting the truck $10,430.00 from its MSRP? - or is that party a GM discount to the Dealer?} Is part of that discount - actually depreciation because that 2010 truck is now one model year old?

$37,900.00 - $1,000.00 GM Loyalty Discount = $36,900.00 {$35,775.00 USD} is really the "price" of the truck - granted that is not the "cost" of buying it. The cost of buying it under the terms listed is closer to $54.5K.

Always hard to know if your getting a good deal when so many variables are involved... good luck.

FWIW,

Carl B.

In Ontario we currently have 8k in rebates, plus another 1500 in free chrome accessories. Looks like the dealer is discounting a little bit more on the truck as well. You can save money here by not getting the stupid little dealer add-ons, like window etching.

You only need to see the discount of off list to see it is a good deal here. Does not matter what it sells for in the states. We are not in the states, we are in Canada. Also does not matter what a Ford or a Dodge sells for, they are not the same as a GM or even the same as each other. Also, up here a Chev is the same price as a GMC.
