4x4 Front Wheel Bearings And Why I Hate Them.

Hi I was wondering if anybody could help me. I have a 1980 GMC Jimmy 4x4 and for the past week I have been trying to dissassemble my front hubs with little succes. I have come upon what apears to be a nylon lockring that is holding a sleeve with two recessed sides in, But despite my effforts I can't seem to figure out how it comes off. My chiltons manual does not cover this style of hub, they are auto locking so of course my book only covers manual locking hubs.lol.

In my personal opinion people who design trucks hate mechanics! Any help would be much appreciated! I just got the truck running and as it's my first truck I'd sure love to drive it!
