Found this while looking at Chevy stuff on eBay:

WV State Police Interceptor Blazer

I've never seen one on the road around my corner of WV but thought it was kind of cool-do they really exist?  Wonder what they do the motor to be able to call it an interceptor?  I've seen the state cops around here in north central WV in some Jeep Cherokees and different full-size SUVs but never an S10 Blazer.

I havn't seen any like that when I travel back home, but I have seen an unmarked Caprice station wagon a few times, in that nasty brown color.  The first time I seen it, I had popped over one of the mountain tops on I-64, between Beckly and Princeton, and he was sitting in the median clocking people.

I've not seen them either, and I drive the interstate from Princeton to Beckely twice a week.  But I have seen our city cops vehicles that are nice.  They now have 3 or 4 Tahoes.  Must be nice.

I haven't been back to "Wild Wonderful" WV for some time (I do miss the mountains!), but last time I travelled I-77 and WV TP to Beckley, saw a Tahoe special.

Did WV ever have the Mustang and Camaro versions?  MI has them all over - although not so much now days.

I remember spying those old 4-door Plymouth Fury's the WV Staties had - usually with fear as I drove way too fast on US19/I-79 (Pre-4-lane days on US 19).  ???

Yeah, those days sucked.  Me and Elwood are both from Summersville, just off U.S. 19.

I don't know about the Mustangs but I know they used to have IROC Camaro's near Charleston back in the eighties.  I can't remember for sure, but I think I've seen a few of the newer bodied Camaro's as well.

HillHound:  Kinda seems like a contradiction in terms - Interceptor and Blazer - in same sentence (no offense to blazer/jimmy/bravada owners out there! - I had a 95 jimmy and loved it).  Unless of course they had that turbo version (Syclone/Typhoon) engine - then a true police interceptor!!

Tom/Elwood:  Passed thru Summersville alot, and also hung out some @ Summersville Lake (too much beer, however to remember much detail!).  I grew up near Beckley (went to school @ Shady Spring HS).

Glad there's some fellow Mountaineers here!

Anyway, I digress. :D

LOL!  I was thinking the same thing.  Both of my wife's S10 Blazers are/is kinda slow.  The 4.3L does have nice low-end torque for a V6 and we liked both of them.

I'm a WVU grad and still live in WV.  Never miss a home WVU game (but this year's team was tough to stomach :sneek: )!

Both of us went to Nicholas County H.S.  When I was in H.S. ('85-'87), we played Shady Springs in most of our sports.  I'm not sure if we still do though.

HillHound:  I graduated WVU in '81 in Geology; Yeah I know what you mean about the football team - but I think Rodriguez has the right idea, just if he can attract the quality athletes!  My best man, also a WVU grad, has always said it's "hard to be a Mountaineer fan"!  But, you know, I'll never forget the day I watched "Hoss" tear up Oklahoma's secondary and beat them bad!  In all fairness to Oklahoma, Hoss paid for it as their defensive line and linebackers worked him over pretty bad.

Tom:  Been a long time since I watched Shady play (grad in '77), but I know we sure had a great wrestling team when I eas there.  We routinely beat 3A schools in dual and quad meets, and usually had 2-3 state champions every year.  B-ball and football were about average, I guess.  It was great fun to beat Woodrow Wilson every year (we called them the flapping buzzards, rather then their "Flying Eagles")!!

Elwood:  I had a couple of friends who went to Concord College, and I sure did like the campus and area there.

Guess I am really digressing now.
