Gmc Big V-6

Hi,

I'm new to this site but when I caught this Classic Truck forum I had to check. This may have been talked about a hundred times. When I was a kid, a buddies dad had a 60s GMC pickup with a V-6 that had big pistons (coffee cans he said). Does anybody keep one of these running?

I have a 305E in a '66 GMC that I'm trying to sell. Was my project bit I ran out of time. Really net old engines, I've heard they're built like diesels internally.

Back in the 70's had a 64 GMC crew cab truck with the 401 V6 with a 4 speed transmission and a 2 speed rear end, it was a 2 ton truck with what we called a flying wedge to haul our race car on. It made many trips to Ca from AZ. It would sit up and run 70 mph all day long and when we pulled out of Indio it would pull the mountian and we would not drop below 3rd gear.
