Amp won't fix it....

sticking with exhaust leak theory...

i have 100 percent ruled out the exhaust.....if you witnessed the symptoms you would as well.....take off from a stop, the noise is there then vanishes then returns as the rpms rise....if i stop and take off again, there will be no noise, then all of a sudden it comes back

this is accompanied with a whine/whistle once the rpms hit 3k

anyone know if non bose has amp?

Negative, it does not.

Has anyone had a noise filter installed on their radio for possible alternator noise coming through the radio?

So after you replaced your radio whine went away?

yes i have no idea why. i went from the stock headunit and stock speakers, to some JVC headunit and pioneer speakers. i replaced the alt. myself with a proline or prostart alternator since all the GM alternators i have ever hadnever last more then 75,000 miles

maybe a GM alternator wouldnt make the noise

Guys, this is simple..........

If you have a whine from your generator that is coming through your audio system there is first of all, usually a ground plane issue. If that cannot be found, or corrected, installing a simple noise filter in the power lead to said

device will take care of the noise. It's been done many, many times with excellent results.

I'll leave my comments about your local dealer's repair facility to myself, fyi. :shakehead:

Latest update on the truck. They went to put in the AMP and said oh shit you have aftermarket Memphis audio equipment. I said yes I told you that and he said he did not remember. So anyway he said for them to diagnose the whining noise they would have to put the system back to stock. He told me 3 hours labor and I said go ahead. I get a call back saying bad news there are aftermarket speakers too so they will have to be replaced with stock equipment. Now the Bill is $700 to bring it back to stock. I said just leave it the way it is and they tell me well we can’t it is already torn apart and it will take the same amount of labor to put it back together.

So long story short I will need to pay them $700 to re wire and new speakers. They will also replace the amp. He said with it back to stock they can then diagnose what is going on under warranty.

So I guess maybe I can recoup some cash by selling the Memphis AMP, channel splitter and speakers I am hoping. I will know Mon when they get it back together if that what was causing the hissing noise. He said if it is not they can at least continue to research the problem now that the equipment is stock.

Both my 08 Sierra and 07 Avalanche exhibit this "hiss" / "high pitch" noise under acceleration. With the Sierra it's more prominent.

Has anyone ever figured this hissing/vacuum noise out. 2010 Yukon Denali has been in the shop twice with no luck. Dealer finally gave up and states it is Normal???? It is not the A/C seats. Anyone have an answer?

Bring this one back from the dead

The frustrating issue is that the particular sound is that it sounds differently at different times. I'm attempting to make a log of conditions together, then present them to the dealership for review when I bring the truck in for a look over. I figured it would be worth it for at least a documentation point of view that I brought it in to them to check out, even if they say they can't find anything. If something goes wrong down the road, it just helps my position to have tried.

If I place the truck in park and barely press the accelerator pedal, the noise will surface briefly, then disappear. But then during a given acceleration range, under different loads, the noise gets louder, but stays persistent through some acceleration. It disappears not immediately after releasing the accelerator pedal, I'd say after the RPMs lower to a given range.

Very frustrating.

This is exactly what I am experiencing. 2013 1500 Z71 5.3 with 16k. Started noticing around 8k

Any updates?
