Oil Pressure Guage ?

How many of you, when you turn your truck off after driving, does your oil pressure guage go back down to 0?  The hubby says his always did, but lately we've been noticing if we turn off the truck, it rises back up to where it was when the truck was shut off.  However if you turn the key on (not starting the truck) then it resets back to 0 and when you start the truck it goes to 40 like normal.  Now I asked the mechanic about it today and he checked on the other 2 chevys that were in the shop and they did the same thing so he says its normal to do that (especially since it resets to 0 when the key is turned).

The only reason this was noticed was when our truck broke down last weekend we saw it happen.  Funny when stuff like that happens, you tend to notice other things you normally wouldn't.

The gage staying where it is at when the truck is shut off is normal as it's electric and without power it remains in it's last state. When you power it up it will read the current pressure and display accordingly. If it were a mechanical gage it would drop to zero without the truck running. Don't worry it's normal.

Thanks for the responses.  I thought it was, but I don't drive the truck enough to remember what the guages go back to.  My husband who drives it everyday swears up and down it went down to 0 every time he shut it off.....Now I can show him it's normal.
