Lifting the front of my 1500HD

I've been reading some of the posts on this and need a little clarification on this. If I understand this correctly, you can raise the front end by adjusting the tb adjuster bolt clockwise for a few inches of increased travel and if you need more lift, you need to purchase the Ford tb keys to increase the lift angle of the key. In either instance, truck must be re-aligned I assume.

Also, I plan to install 285/75/16's on my stock aluminum wheels, are there any issues with that.

Glad to find the site. Thanks in advance.

I turned mine 8 turns each side, truck is now perfectly level..I have had no problems at all,the truck drives as good as the day I drove it home. You should have no probs at all running the 285's,I haven't had mine realligned yet but I plan on having it checked.I am running 305's with no probs, and by the way welcome to the site......Gun :thumb:

Welcome to the site

Yes just turn the bolts in on the front torsion bars and it will raise the front of the truck.  If you want the chassis to be level then measure off the frame.  If you want the fenders to look the same then measure off the fenders.

I personally measured off the frame (in three places) because my fenders aren't the same, and I wanted the actually truck itself to ride level.

Either way it is a good idea to run it through an alignment shop...  and yes it will ride a little harsher.

I didn't level my truck even front to rear, but that is because I wanted the rear to be a little higher so that I wouldn't be spotting coons in the trees when I had a trailer on the back or a load in the bed...  To each his own I guess...  So it all depends on what you want to do with your truck...

Thanks for the info fellas. Question for shotgun though. You turned yours a total of eight turns each correct? - and this was without doing the Ford key mod or am I mistaken?

NO...Ford keys are not required to crank GM

torsion bars....Simple socket wrench to adjust

Remember:  turn clockwise to raise...Counter-

clockwise to lower............geo

When you crank the torsion rods up this will affect the ride my effectively upping the spring wieght on the nose of the truck.. This will not increase travel in the sense of up and down and will limit your downward travel... also when you crank the torsion rods it will skew your in toe and camber of your tires...a front end alignment is highly recomended..

lowering the rear 2" is the easiest way  with a set of 2" shackles

and it won't affect your ride, or make ya need to get an alignment
