New Way To Produce Fossil Fuels

Hey Guys,

 

I visit the site www.slashdot.org often and I saw an article about a company in the United States that claims it can produce fossil fuels with bacteria via "fake" photosynthesis.

That's the company link, they claim they can make diesel (with ethanol and gasoline possible) at $30/barrel with commercial production coming in 2012.

 

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on this.

Shell is claiming fuel production with Algae so yeah maybe................

From what I've read...It's entirely possible.

 

BUT...THAT'S NOT FOSSIL FUEL.

 

And they say they can produce it for the equivalent of $30 a barrel...They'll probably charge $1 less per barrel than the normal stuff

Hopefully it brings prices down across the board. Even if we pay HALF of what we are paying now that would be nice.

 

I have a feeling they would sell the stuff cheaper since they come right out and say how much they can make it for. The company/method could have a huge impact on the western world if we don't have to purchase middle east oil anymore.
