Gm Build Quality--1995

I thought I would share as I found this very interesting. After getting my truck painted, I started noticing that the body lines between the cab and bed did not match up well at all. I knew the lower body mounts were shot when I installed my nerf bars so I figured the uppers were worn as well.

I ordered some poly mounts and started the swap. When I removed the factory ones I found that the taller rear mount had been installed on the front of the cab on the driver's side and this is why the body lines were off. Since I got the right thickness busings in the right places, the doors open and close better and there are less rattles.

My guess is that with a tall bushing on opposing corners and short ones on opposing corners and everything torqued down, the cab was being pulled out of square.

That's a 15 year old truck. Are you the original owner? Was it in a collision? Lots of variables there other than factory build quality.

Bought it from the original owner. No collisions. All of the body bolts showed the same amount of decay leading me to believe they have all been in the truck for the same amount of time.
