Lt Gauge Cluster In An Ls

Question

Took my new LT gauge cluster to the GMC dealer close to work the other day and they said they could do the swap and reprogram the new odometer. They called me a few hours later and said that since I had the LS cluster with the 4 gauges, I had to have some sort of kit for the 6 gauge cluster and the kit's not available for the 2011's yet??? Is this correct? Would a "kit" for a 2010 not work? I thought all the clusters were plug and play, as long as it got reprogrammed? I called my cousin at the Chevy dealer where I bought the truck and told him the situation. He asked his service man and said it would work fine without a kit? So who the hell is right here? Thanks, Jason

That's what I thought as well... Guess I'll drive the extra 80 miles to my cousins dealer next week and see what they say?

When you added the LT cluster to your LS did the extra gauges work and did you get the tempature and compass when you added it?

Please let me know...I would like to do this upgrade.

Thanks.

5 minute install... why not do it yourself.

Who's going to program the miles/hours from the old cluster to the new one?

That is my concern as well, I would love to be able to swap to the SLE (in my case, SL to SLE) cluster and bezel.

GM can't program the mileage either. You have 2 choices. 1 is use a sticker placed on the door recording the mileage and hour meter currently or send it out to and authorized cluster repair shop. GM is not authorized to program mileage.

Techni-car is an authorized cluster repair shop and I've dealt with them before. They are found in Tampa florida and Cleveland ohio. VERY easy to work with.

Yes, they actually can. I put an SS cluster in my 07 Classic a few years ago and they were able to put the miles of my truck into the SS cluster. The guy I bought it from on ebay offers to switch over the miles. I'm gonna have to contact him and see how I can I guess?

Not down here. It goes on the record saying what was down and when, so it's not tampering with the mileage, if it's all recorded, I guess?

In the old days (pre electronic) all that was done was a sticker placed on the drivers door with the mileage that was on the speedo head. I would imagine if you get a service tech or service manager of my era, they will say that is all they can do.
