Backup Lights To Audible

Recommended Posts

Posted

my truck has the three light system on the rear pillar, I never look there while im backing and I find it useless to have no audible alerts till you get within 12". The other day I was driving a 2010 Tahoe and noticed they did away with the three lights and switched to an increasing speed audible system like every other manufacturer. Has anyone looked into changing to this?Would it just be a module replacement?Computer flash?

what do you drive? is the factory radio still installed? do your warning chimes work?

I'm not familiar with these systems b/c I've never owned one, but I can tell you a friend has an 07 Tahoe with audible alerts. All audible warnings will need the factory radio in place or in the case of an aftermarket stereo you can use a specialized adapter to function. If your other alerts are functioning then that is not the problem.

I remember reading somewhere, and for the life of me I can't find it.. That you can have the dealer increase the alert volume with the Tech2, that is they can reprogram the back-up sensor module to emit a louder tone (designed for the hearing impaired I believe)..

Far as I know, my 08 only has the lights, until the very end. As you back up, it goes yellow, yellow, red, and then if you keep going a bit, it dings fast to let you know you're right close.

I would LOVE a beep right from the first light. My gf's 09 Escape beeps at an increasing rate as you get closer to the object.
