To Car & Truck Techs,

My truck is a 2006 Chevy 4x4 Silverado classic LS 4.8 v8 , when bought from Townsend Ford used it had 59,910 miles on when we drive back to the West Coast. It now has 70,000 roughly on it. Just before we arrived Clarksville, Ark. the engine light came on and never came off until Auburn, Wa. Chevy Dealership fixed it, so far!. In Clarksville, Ark. I bought a new gas cap and noticed grease on the old one to seal it I guess. The engine light would stay on and it would say "Tighten Gas Cap". I was pulling a

6x12 U-haul from East to West. We let the Dealer in Ma. Know that we had issues with the truck and as we drove 1560.62miles its still under our 2months/2500mile warranty by about 160 miles. We all would think that all emission system parts and labor are covered? And Massuschuesetts and Washington , do they have the same Emission Test pretty much right? We passed in Ma. but failed in Washington with the to codes, one small and one large. I guess our small budget bacame smaller. We had to fix the problem in order to pass inspection to get our new plates. When the service advisor came back after the smoke test ($169.71)which they replaced the gas cap, found large leak-vapor pressure sensor & O-ring. Total -405.00 Labor,318.04 parts, and 68.69 Tax? WOW This truck is killing us and My real question is Why since this truck is a Chevy and we bought it from a Ford Dealer who is liable for Federal Emission Warranty? And is this a Small Claim Court issue?

So you bought it in WA ... or MA? Millbury Ford-Mercury? Doesn't matter - just curious.

Regardless of where the truck was bought, GM should honor any warranty remaining on the truck.

Your codes, in my opinion, are nothing more than a product of government overreach. They don't affect performance in any way, shape or form. They are purely based on politically motivated environmental hysteria. Now you, and millions of others, have to shell out your hard earned money for a completely superficial problem that doesn't affect engine operation in the least. I am currently chasing almost the exact same issue in my brother's girlfriends Nissan. She is a single parent of 2 young children & doesn't have much money to spare ... yet because of this left leaning state we live in, she is forced to spend money she doesn't have on a repair that doesn't affect performance at all. Sad state of affairs we are in today ... :dunno:

Sorry for the rant. I hope you get your problem straightened out.

Funny how I still have asthma after all these rules & regs were enacted. I had it in '73 and I have it now. Shouldn't it have got better? :dunno:

I guess you weren't listening when the doc said asthma is for life. I suppose you'll blame the unions now. I spent plenty of time in coal burning powerhouses, an oil refinery and steel mills to know what bad air is.

Last time I stepped outside, I didn't see smokey foundry air outside. I don't think either one of us will be dead because I vented some gasoline fumes.

Clean air is good, yes. But this is just absolutely stupid. If you enjoy paying out all your hard earned money for useless crap, have at it.

Unions .... I should have known ..... :lurk::dunno:

Oh and BTW ... doctor said I'd outgrow asthma by 18. So wtf happened there???
