19.5 Wheels Higher Psi And Tpms

2007 new body style GMC 2500HD Ext Cab Long Bed

I purchased a set of steel 19.5 wheels because I do some heavy hauling. I run 70 psi at all corners when I'm not hauling and pump up the rears to 85 or 90 psi when I have a load. My TPMS constantly tells me to check rear left and rear right tires. Is there a way to reprogram for the higher psi? Can I reset the TPMS DIC? Not sure how to solve this. I'd like to have it work correctly as opposed to trying to disable it.

Places like Discount Tire can recalibrate the sensors. Why 70 psi when unloaded? That's way too high IMO. Bring it down to 40.

Due to the stiff sidewalls of commercial tires, the lowest recommended psi is 65. anything under that and you coulld do damage to the sidewalls. So I put a 5 lb buffer in there for giggles. These tires have a harsh ride no matter what psi you run.

Commercial tires?

19.5" is a commercial truck size. You'll see them on stuff like box vans or UPS trucks. They'll take a huge load but ride awful the rest of the time.

only a dealer with a tech 2 can recalibrate them for a higher psi, all tire places can do is reset them in their location and make the truck read them

I suppose I couldn't get one of these anywhere?

Who makes those tires? I would think 70 psi is too high, so I'm just trying to learn something here. As far as the reprogram, Discount Tire around here just did my buddy's. He was getting the PSI warning lights and the manager reprogrammed them. I don't know if they all do it or not, but they do here. At least at this location.

Almost all tire manufacturers make commercial grade 19.5 tires. GoodYear, Michellin etc. Common sizes are 225/70/19.5 and 245/70/19.5. The ones I have are by Continental and I run 225s. There's no bling here. You'll see them mostly on small cargo hauler trucks around town and some smaller UPS and FedX trucks.
