Gm Has Done The Impossible!

yeah cause we all know that GM caused the Tsunami in Japan...

not siding with Toyota, just saying that GM had some help from Mother Nature..

When Toyota is back to full production and the Cruze stays #1, then we can beat our chests..

.... so did the Tsunami result in people not going to Toyota dealerships to buy Corollas?

I heard about spare part issues. But i didn't realize customers were actually being turned away at dealerships with "sorry, because of the Tsunami we're out of stock of Toyotas, you'll have better luck going to Chevy".... just sayin (and im not brand biased at all)

Toyota sales across the board are down because they have low inventory.. I have a Penske Toyota (our service dealer for our Camry), Largest Yota dealer in a 10 mile radius about 4 miles from my home, drive past it every day, last weekend they had 4 New Camry's, maybe a dozen Corollas, and a half dozen Trucks on the lot..

They have more used vehicles than new because they can't replenish their inventory..

I'm not brand biased either, I own an Avalanche, 2 Fords (1971 Mustang and 1985 Crown Vic) and a 2007 Camry Hybrid..

I'm just saying, and that article said it too, that Toyota Sales are down because they have production and shipping issue due to the Tsunami.. (but also because of all the quality issues in the past 2-3 years).

I am glad GM was able to climb the ladder, and they have some nice new vehicles that are coming out, but I'm not going to beat my chest about it until it becomes a consistant win, not a one month success...

I just haven't heard of anyone recently being turned away at dealer lots and haven't noticed that serious of a lack of new Toyota vehicles in my area.

If that is the case, I stand corrected (admittedly i didnt read the article)

Maybe it's somewhat of a regional thing. I live in a highly populated area... so if there is a supply issue, i guess it would make sense to send your inventory to areas where sales are high.

don't care if GM owns the number one spot or not...people buy what they want, not whats number one...if people bought only what was on top their would be lots and lots of dead companys

thats very impressive to that the cruze is already doing so well.

My Motorcyclist magazine came yesterday.... one reader points out it doesn't matter in the comparo's if one bike is .4 secs faster in the quarter or not.... b/c no matter how good you are; you can't outride the bikes capabilities anyhow. SO he says; to choose, 1. close your eyes, 2. imagine yourself riding, 3. buy that bike! ride what you like; piss on everyone elses opinion.

I would imagine the same goes for cars/trucks/vans etc.....

Toyota sales are down more because of the bad press and recalls than inventory problems. Their sales were off before the disaster in Japan.

Yep Toyota dealer near me is packed with new cars. I see the Cruze all over in this area. They are selling great. Them and Malibu's. My step mom just bought a brand new malibu and absolutely loves it. My dad's got a new 2011 Silverado 3500 and loves it as well.

They say they can't make Toyotas fast enough, but GM is suffering from that problem too. The difference is that GM is at max capacity, but can't match the number of Cruzes flying off the lots. Toyota dealer here is full, but my local GM dealer has 3 Cruzes in stock last i checked. Can't make 'em fast enough!

oh they can, but its the law of supply and demand...if demand increases they will choke supply for a small amount of time to increase profit then will be forced to increase supply to keep demand steady
